thank u...just hopefully i get accepted somewhere

I wouldn't be too discouraged, I was accepted at two schools and then rejected from Purdue. I definitely would not lose all hope! :)

Interesting, because when I was there, people in Indiana love Butler so much, and they said it's very very difficult to get there but easy to get in Purdue.
Butler is only hard as a transfer student because they accept like 10 a year, if you apply there out of high school it's peanuts to get accepted. Purdue's average accepted gpa last year was 3.8, so i'm not sure where the idea of easy and Purdue correlate.

For those that have gone through the interview process (obviously not this year, but in past years) at Purdue, are the speaking portions done in front of other people? I know someone said it is recorded, and it's just something like "what's your favorite tv show", but is this done in private? Directly after your interview/by your interviewers?

You're in a private room with no one else, you can do it before or after your interview.

Can you explain more detail what gonna happen in that room?
You go into a room with a labtop and webcamera pointed at you, click start on the labtop and it gives you directions. You read a designated drug monolog off the labtop screen then click next when your done. This then takes you to a new screen which will display a free response oral question. It gives you a few seconds to think about what you want to say then starts recording automatically. You click stop when you're finished. There aren't any do overs and you leave the room when you're done.

thank you so much for all your info on this thread! it's helpful :)

I just declined my interview to Purdue, so that opens up a spot for ya'll. Good luck to the rest of you guys. Stay strong! :)

Does anyone know if Purdue is doing interviews one on one or in groups? I looked at the interview feedback and saw both.

All interviews are individual, people may have been confused which to select because you interview with 2 members from the school. There's a faculty member and usually 1 professor. So it's not exactly one on one, but rather one on two.

so ppl who had an interview so far, what do you guys think?! any suggestions? Thanks:)

well, definitely blew that interview :( I have no idea what happened. I just wasn't all there today.

I was really surprised with how friendly and helpful everybody was. The interview (at least for me) was really laid back too, it was definately a positive experience. It's too bad tuition is so expensive for out of state students though.

To be honest interviews are too hit or miss at Purdue, there are a few interviewers that are without a doubt very biased in who they accept. Interviews are such a huge portion of their ranking of students too, so not to put more pressure on, but interviews count for a lot.

waiting is killing me now.
Me too!!!!!
Does anyone has any idea when we will be notified and how?
I am very nervous and scared about admission now. It is getting very competitive, and when you prepare for your interview and answer they think you already prepared for it so you are not a good candidate. But if you don't prepare for it, they think you are a bad candidate who haven't prepared for it.
So in any means students are the ones are always in trouble. It si not like underprepared or overprepared, but really stressful situation when they ask you weird questions.

Letters in the past have went out during the week of returning from spring break based on Purdue's academic calendar. That would mean you guys should be finding out in about 2 weeks or so.

I guess one more week for waiting, then we will know sth, is it right?

You have 14 days if I remember correctly.

Letters are out, hopefully you all receive positive news! If you haven't received yours yet don't panic they will be trickling out for the rest of the week.

You means all letters (acceptance, waitlist and denied) are out this week?

I'm so excited to see people from Purdue on here. Of course, I won't even be pre-pharm student until the fall since I'm still a senior in high school, but Purdue is where I'm headed. I don't even have to worry about all this interview stuff yet, but it does sound intimidating.

I was waitlisted also and so was someone else i know just wondering are you instate and what was your stats?

out of state. 3.8 gpa, BS in biochem (pending this may), and 84 pcat. I denied the waitlist though.

If you guys are going to try and compare stats realize a few things, Purdue does not even look at the PCAT; Volunteering, leadership, and career exploration, as well as interview are heavily weighted. So it's not strictly a number basis...

I'm looking to apply at Purdue next year, and I was just wondering what kind of stuff you guys listed under leadership in the supplemental. I think I have most of my bases covered so far, but I'm having a hard time thinking of leadership activities without reaching all the way back into highschool.

I am very aware of this...why would you think that I would apply somewhere without doing my research first. I was just trying to see what put people where on there wait list.

I was accepted to Purdue. My leadership roles were:
1. Vice President Pre-Pharmacy Club UIUC
2. Pharmacy Technician Specialist at Target (as the second certified tech in my location, I helped train new employees)
3. Sessions Chair for a residence hall Orientation Program
4. Volunteer Student Leader in Pediatrics at local hospital (in charge of all Peds volunteers)

Hope that helps. Do remember that some "leadership" is less obvious...like my role at Target. But it certainly counts!

My GF just got accepted here and is out-of-state. Any suggestions on where to live? She'd like to be within walking distance and have it be a relatively nice place.

Hi Everyone! I also got accepted into Purdue Class of 2013! My stats are 3.8 GPA, cancer research assistant, a lot of volunteering experience, and some leadership positions. However, I have never worked or volunteered in a pharmacy so I was a little surprised that they accepted me but yay!

Also, anyone accepted looking for a roommate? I;m looking for a female roommate.

Has anyone lived in the Pharmacy learning community at Purdue? I applied for it and think it'd help me a lot, but I wanna know how much.

I really enjoyed it, mostly because it was encouraging to be situated with other pre-pharms. It really helps to keep you on track and the friends you will make will have the same classes, exams, etc.

If you are serious about pharmacy (which I assume you are) I would join.

If nobody has told you about it, you are just living on a floor with other first year pre-pharms. Thats all.

I know you don't have to take the PCAT when applying to Purdue, but did you have to take the GRE when just applying for Pharmacy?

okay good to know. I was just looking at the Purdue pharmacy website and they had links for applying to their grad programs....which talked about taking the GRE and I didn't know if that was for pharmacy too. Thanks for clearing up my confusion:rolleyes:
