Are you in-state NY?

Nope. I go to Cornell for undergrad, and I've been complete for about a month or so...you'd think I would have heard SOMETHING by now.

Same situation. It's been a few weeks now since the file-complete email.

Sorry, the OP is asking about Weill School of Medicine at Cornell University...he's not talking about the Cornell med school that exists only in your imagination (that's where you went to the interview). But since we're talking about your fictitious life anyway, how are your imaginary friends doing? Are they applying to the same imaginary med schools you're applying to?

How ******ed are you? Weill School of Medicine is often referred to as "Cornell." One thing is certain, though. You'll never set foot in there.

That's got to suck.

i haven't heard anything from Cornell yet either. I guess all we can do is keep our fingers crossed

by the way Gleevac, why were u asking if the OP was in-state or out of state. does that make a difference for Cornell?

As far as I know it shouldn't, since Cornell isn't state-affiliated. But I've been told that even private schools will interview their state's residents first. Don't know how true this is...but of the 5 interviews I've been offered, 3 are from my home state...

Im out of state and interviewing there on the 29th of this month. It took about three weeks after I was complete to get an invite.

I have not received any e-mail besides the one confirming the completion of my file. It is very strange that many of my friends also have not received invites, considering their MCAT scores and GPAs are well above Cornell's accepted average. Yet, one of my acquaintances is interviewing later this month or early november. He applied as a disadvantaged applicant!

Anyhow good luck everyone. Hoping the best for everyone.

I was complete on 8/20, according to the e-mail they sent me, so it's been a while with no interview invite. All of the other Cornellians I know have yet to receive invites as well, though, so it could just have to do with our apps being complete later than some ppls 'cause of our friend the HCEC. Although if S&S is who he says he is, my theory is kaput 🙂. Hey, S&S, when was your file complete at Weill?
I did hear some rumor (can't substantiate it at all) that Weill interviews a very substantial proportion of Cornellians that apply. Just trying to make myself feel better here... 😀

We have had a few groups of med school prospectives going round and having stopped to talk to them they don't appear to all be either in-state or from particular schools, or any other pattern. It just depends on the time at which your file was complete. The interviews have only just started though so it's a long way yet (and besides we are only semi-rolling admissons so a later interview is not such a bad thing anyway - I think my interview was Jan or Feb last year and I still got in without a waitlist).

good luck everyone 🙂

My friend, who asked one of his professors who is on an adcom committee, told me that when you get asked for an interview really has no indication of how much they really like you...

Think about it this way: When they get our applications, it's probably not ONE person who sifts through them all and decides who to interview. They probably separate the applications into a couple of stacks, and give them to separate committees. So especially with us earlier applicants, you can imagine how its possible that one person who was completed in July can wind up at the bottom of a stack, while the next person who was completed a day after him can wind up at the top of another stack, and wind up getting interviewed earlier.

SO! I don't know if this is true for all schools... but it sure has helped relieve some of my anxiety about getting interviews at schools I really want to go to... 😛

Yeah, missmod is right, timing doesn't matter unless the school uses a rolling admissions procedure and Cornell does not.

Well, as I said above, we use 'semi-rolling' which means some people are actually accepted from the early interviews before the date in March, but most of the acceptances go out as a batch in March.

Good point...I didn't think about that. They told us that the mid-August mailing wouldn't hurt us, though...

PianoGirl,
My app was complete for about 3 weeks before I got the invite, but some people take longer for a whole slew of reasons... don't worry yet! There's still tons of time.

DoctorKevin,
See you Wed!!

Umm...that's the med school I was referring to you blithering idiot. How did you not the get this? The whole point of that post was to just make fun of the fact that you're not interviewing at Cornell, nor were you ever invited, nor will you ever attend Cornell...ever. That's why I said.."the Cornell med school that only exists in your imagination"...as in..you're not interviewing at the Cornell med school everyone else is referring to...that's why I said..."Weill School of Medicine at Cornell University"...It's clear I was talking about Cornell you idiot...Apparently, you're just a troll who is too stupid to realize when he's being mocked

I wouldn't worry too much... I've had a good number of schools contact me and Cornell is not one. So... i'll just assume that it's no big deal (until I get my first post-secondary rejection)

🙂

One of the recent princeton review med school guides erroneously states that cornell offers interviews to all undergrads that apply to weill. Maybe this was a practice in the past that they have recently discontinued, I dont know. While that isnt the case, there is a pretty large cornell contigency in our class, so I cant imagine it hurts 🙂

good luck tommorrow guys 😀

you mean you guys havent gotten in yet 😀
sorry... i'm bored.
good luck guys!!

bump

Have any of you heard anything of late? I have been complete for about 3.5 weeks, and am hopeful to hear something before x-mas....

🙂

I've been complete a month now (since early November) and I haven't heard anything yet. I'll post if I get any news.

For those of you who have already interviewed at Cornell, be aware that there will be a SMALL handful of acceptances that go out right before Xmas break if things are the way they were last year. Also, the MD/PhDs get their acceptances before Xmas I believe. If you dont get in the early round, dont sweat it so much, they only take a small number of kids in december and the majority of the decisions go out in march. I interviewed in early october last year and didn't make the december round, but here I am now 😍

Before Christmas break, eh? Hehe, one more thing to obsess about before march 😀 Gotta make sure I can get mail while I'm back at home...

we accept by email primarily 😉

complete for about 2.5 months now, and still waiting..........and waiting.......and waiting............... same with NYU

Does cornell send out post secondary rejection email/letters? Ive been complete since mid August and have not heard anything from them. Does this mean Im on some sort of post secondary waitlist for an interview? Do you think I should call?

So, how small is small? Are we talking, say, 5 people or more like 50? 😀

I was complete at Cornell end of July, and I didn't hear about an interview till the very end of October/ beginning of November. So don't get too bummed by the wait, although it is tough-I know!

Now NYU on the other hand.... +pissed+
No word there for me yet

cornell interviewed all the way until late february last year.....all post secondary-pre interview rejections went out in mass around the same time when they stopped inviting people for interviews. sit tight, plenty of time left.........
