Hey all, just wanted to check and see if anyone has heard any news from these schools recently. (interviews, wait-list, rejections).
I'm really anxious to know what's going on with these schools, (like how full the classes are, etc...) but I've been bothering the heck out of them lately and they're going to start hating me soon:)

thanks everyone

I applied to 4 schools in CA and I havent heard from UOP or UCLA. I just was offered an interview at UCSF though. Be aware, though, that your interview starts from the day you CALL them!! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="eek.gif" />

Hey LucidDreamer,
When did you hear from UCSF about the interview? Do you know if there class is almost full or if they're interviewing from the waitlist?

Thanks in advance!

what does that mean from the day you call them?

i heard from uop a few two or two and a half weeks ago, and i think i am interviewing on one of their last days...and it's for a waitlist position :(
i heard ucla's interview list is full, but they're still going to hold on to applications just incase people decide not to go there
ucsf, no idea what's going on there....

aaahhh...i'm dying in waiting for ucsf...it's been 2 months since i interviewed there...i called once a month ago to check up on status...carmen just basically told me that all i could do is wait to hear from her...

does anyone have any advice on what to ask when calling admissions to try to get info out of them about your app status...how many seats are left...how much longer before you should expect to hear back??? yah-z...you seemed to be successful in chatting with the admissions folk...got any pointers? what to ask--how to ask it?

I talked to UOP today and spoke with Kathy, Director of Student Services, since Kristin is out of town on a conference (I believe a lot of admissions staff from all dental schools are at this conference at this time) and this is what I got out of the phone call.

At this time, UOP is full! Admissions staff and committee will conduct interviews this month for the waiting list and all March interview slots are all booked up. Within the next week or so, UOP will determine if they need to open A DAY OR TWO for further interviews in April (10 applicants each interview day) to further add to the waiting list.

I also inquired about how many applicant files do they have that are still in the "review status", Kathy told me that they have close to 300 application files that they will be choosing from for that ~20 (2 additional interview days in April, 10 applicants each day if opened) interview slots, if they so decide to open those 2 additional interview days in April.

Basically, if you have recieved an interview invitation lately for March, it's for the waiting list like Star Girl said, and if we're lucky, UOP will pick two (2) more days in April to interview ~20 of us out of ~300 for the waiting list! If we don't receive anything from UOP about an interview, expect a letter stating that they are full and we are rejected for fall 2002.

Encouraging, huh?!

I heard that UCSF will complete the admissions process by March 15, which means that they're meeting soon to decide on their final offers. They will notify all students on their status this month. UCSF is really strict about giving out admissions status over the phone, but you can ask when the admissions committee will meet to make the final decision.

I am also waiting for UCSF to respond! I was interviewed 2 months ago and I've called them 3 times. Everytime I call, they tell me that they can't tell me anything and that I just have to wait it out. I also heard that they will be sending out responses by the end of March.. so wasabi, hopefully we hear something from them =)

I just spoke w/ Ms. Hernandez at UCSF and she said there are only two more interview dates left and they are both very full. (March 8th and 11th). Oh well...

Has anyone heard anything from UCLA? They're taking so long to make a decision that I'm going to have to put my deposit down at U. Penn...$500..ouch

did u interview at ucla jayjay? you should call them, aww sniff sniff taking up my spot at u penn hehehe

i interviewed at UCSF last month and heard from them about a week ago. When i interviewed, they stated that they were about 3/4 of the way full, and that was over a month ago. Hope that helps.

Stargirl,

From the day you start nagging them. They take note of that. haha. i'm not kidding. be courteous and polite when talking to them

Hey Stargirl,
Yup, I interviewed at ucla late february. I've called them twice actually (they prob hate me by now :D ) but it seems like the dean of admissions is out of town till the 12th so no decisions will be made after that.
Hopefully i'll get in and you'll get my spot at penn;)

good luck!

 I found out i got into UCLA!! I havn't heard from UCSF though, I called Barbara today and she said that my application has been recommended by the first committee but that the executive committee hasn't made their final decision yet, but she said they are notifying people this week and next week!! so i'm hoping... by the way, who's headed to UCLA??

Hey Ayoon80,
Congrats! Hopefully i'll see you in la:)
BTW, when did you find out from ucla? When did you interview?
all this waiting is tiring me out!

phew, good thing i haven't nagged SF at all...or maybe bad thing since I haven't heard from them...

JayJay hehe I hope I get your spot at Penn too (of course after you get into UCLA) good luck!

hey jayjay, i actually interviewed with UCLA early january and I heard from them later that same month. I interviewed with UCSF early january as well, but still now word! Barbara did say I would hear from them very soon, so hopefully it will be good news~ Hope I'll be seeing you at ucla! They are usually pretty quick about responding it seems.

hey thanks for the replies... =)

i called ucsf the other day...talked with carmen...and got basically the same reply...can't tell you anything...no decision has been made...there are 2 fat stacks of interviewed files that still need to be reviewed by admissions committee...they meet once a week...but now she said that people should expect to hear until late march-mid april!! =P

ayoon~ what did you ask barbara to get such specific info about your file???? please please help!! i think i interviewed on the same day as you if i remember correctly...i'm dying here... :p

hey wasabi, i'm thinking that you should try calling Barbara's direct line, she gave it to us on her card during the interview ( i don't have the # on me right now). I tried calling the general ucsf number, and I got the same response as you guys, "no info, we'll let you know," type of thing, so I called Barbara, and she was much more specific. She told me I should hear by this week rather than march-april. good luck!
