Anyone heard from Davis?

So while most of you guys are waiting to hear back from Davis post-interview, I'm still waiting to hear from them post-secondary!!! I've been complete since the beginning of November and I'm starting to lose hope. Any cool stories of people getting interview invites in Feb/March? Please share them with me! =)

UC Davis is alive and kicking after all. Since submitting my AMCAS application early in the summer, I finally got a pre-secondary rejection TODAY! And I'm a CA resident too...how sad. I knew it was coming anyway

my friend interviewed in april...but unfortunately by that time its basically to see if you get on the waitlist.

Thats not true at all. One of my classmates interviewed in April, and received an outright acceptance in June.

You guys have to remember that Davis does not work on the same timetable as East Coast schools. Therefore, you can have late interviews and still have a shot at an admission.

And about the SoCal/NorCal thing: My class is pretty well distrubuted between NorCalers and SoCalers. I'd say that its about 60-40 Nor/South. Pretty good ratio if you ask me, but I would prefer a "few" less Laker fans...

Maybe I shouldn't say more about my school as midterms loom next week...🙁

I'm sure that I know you. How are things going? I absolutely hated the waiting. I'm sure you'll be fine....Davis will be one of your safeties!

For the "bunch" of letters I wrote, I think I just said 1 reason why i really like the school and then one reason why I thought I would be good there.


Ok, physio is calling my name too...(he's mad that we haven't talked all quarter)...laters all.

my friend who interviewed on the same day as i did...emailed me yesterday saying that he got into Davis.

i hope that means our decisions are coming up soon...

I was complete beginning of December at Davis - got an interview invite on February 3rd - will interview on February 24th.

So don't give up hope yet - I think Davis is still offering interviews. 🙂

I interviewed in December and now my status page says "application on hold." I thought I was supposed to get an e-mail when this happened....Does anyone else have this on their status page?

just checked right now...and no.

i dont know what that means...your application on hold. did you already get an interview? maybe this is a preinterview hold if that is the case.

tho i do remember something about emailing being put on the waitlist....

call terri and clear things up.

I"m wondering if Davis will actually post changes in your application status page online. I got an interview in mid-December but still no word yet...Does anyone know if they actually bother to reflect changes on app status?? thanks...

well someone had it say their application was put on hold.

now for acceptances, rejections and waitlists....not sure.

tho i know davis should reject and waitlist via email.

yeah, my status page says "application on hold." I e-mailed Terri and she said that means that the committee won't review my application until after all the interviews are completed. 🙁

Yes, Terri said that "application on hold" is different from the waitlist. Also, I didn't get an e-mail - I only got this info from the status page.

Just to clarify what I said earlier: I actually did get an interview from them, it's just that the status page never changed since I got an interview, other than a "interview scheduled on XX/XX/03). But from the looks of things I don't think I would hear from them soon, sucks...

But yeah, I've also heard about the "application on hold" thing, and I'm not sure what it exactly means either.

Guess I'll throw you guys a bone...

Well, I was placed in this "on-hold" category when I interviewed at Davis.

The hold category just means that they will re-examine your application once they finish interviewing. If this year is anything like last year, this won't be until at least April-May. Late, I know, but I guess its better than being rejected!

At this point 3 things can happen: you get accepted, you get rejected, or you get waitlisted. Davis' waitlist works just like every other school's: wait until someone else turns the school down and then Davis will let you know.

I hope that helps you guys. Remember that *many* people, including myself, got in from being placed in this hold. Just think of it as a way that Davis punishes earlier interviewers and rewards later interviewers: by making their admissions "semi non-rolling."

im sure youve been asked this plenty of times...but do you know why a bunch of us who interviewed back in nov...still have heard nothing at all? i mean 5-7 weeks is fine...but this is going on 13+ weeks for a bunch of us...

when you were put on the "on-hold" category...did it take them this long to tell you too?

any insight?

ill let you know when i check the mail tonight. maybe its something you get if you turned in your fafsa and they got it. i havent finished fafsa yet. damn i better finish by this weekend.
 
ok, cuz I submitted my fafsa yesterday, so the turnaround couldn't have been overnight.

they probably send it out to everyone, because i didn't even fill out or inquire about a fafsa and i got one inthe mail.

Sorry I didn't get back to you earlier, but I didn't know you responded until now.

I don't know why they're taking so long...but I was talking to some of my classmates and it seems like some of them didn't hear anything for a long time.

The only thing I can say is that don't give up, and the fact that you haven't received a hold or rejection means you're still in the running.

UCI has H/P/F from what they said at the interview. My student interviewer told me that you do some PBL and organ based stuff but more in the 2nd year than the 1st. I am having trouble remembering myself. I think I wrote it down somewhere so I'll try to find it and post tomorrow.
 
davis is pure P/F for the first two years...so sweet. :horns:

Not that I know the specific answer to Davis's blocks, but blocks generally mean system based. Hemeatology, Nuero, GI, etc, etc. Now that I think about it, most organs don't really overlap into different systems. I guess the Pancreas in Endocrine and GI. So I guess the answer to your question is irrlevant.

Wait, I just reread your question and realized I didn't answer the answer that you wanted to your question. The answer to your question is yes.

I just called Davis to ask when I might hear since it has been a long wait and Terri put me on hold, comes back, and says sounding confused "we sent you an acceptance on Feb. 2 and we hadn't heard back from you." Turns out the computer messed up my address and sent it to a combination of my current address and my parents' house in the city. So the letter has been lost for like 3 weeks! Wow... I am in shock. My first acceptance after I was starting to despair when UCI put me on hold. This is amazing... I doubt I will be getting much work done today!!!

I interviewed after you did I think. It was Dec. 3. They told us 4-6 weeks + time for the holidays so I felt like it might be okay to call since it is late February and I had not seen a hold thing appear on my status page. Man, am I glad I made that call. What a way to start the week 🙂

damn...

just got the call from ed...and said i was in! haha 😀

i told him how i was gonna call him and ask about my status and he said he was glad he beat me to it.

now i dont have to worry about not being able to stay here in california....whew...

too bad its only monday. i need the weekend to come so i can celebrate!

man too bad i got work in a few...i can be happy later again haha.
