Hi!

I finally got my KU interview last friday!!! 😀 I called about 2 weeks ago and what I got out of it was that I was rejected for sure, but, in the end the interview came (both by e-mail and phone call). Did you get yours? Anybody else interviewing on Feb 10th? :luck: :luck: :luck:

A good friend of mine is also interviewing on the 10th. Good luck at your interview - they're really laid back so no worries.

does anybody know when the last interview date is? i thought it was supossed to be in jan, not feb. oh well. i'm just anxious to find out where i'll be next year, any ideas on when we may find out for those of us on hold? when did they send them out last year? waiting patiently . . .

The last interview date was supposed to be Jan. 26th, but it looks as though they've added another round. If you're on hold, you should find out something by mid-March. Good luck!

Thanks! I am really thrilled about interviewing at KUMED!

That's great! I unfortunately haven't heard anything. I'm assuming it's over for me. I wish you the best though! Take care.

I cant make up my mind if this is a good thing or not,

Oh well, Im in San Antonio right now training in the military

Hi Class of 2009,

I am currently a first year at KUMC. I remember last year when i was jumping through the application/interview hoops that SDN was a huge help. If anyone has questions about what i think of KU MED, first year curriculum, the professors, etc... I would be glad to give you my personal opinions. Send me a Private Message and i'll answer it as soon as I can.

Good luck all

Unless they've extended their interview season even further, I think it's over now. They told me they were holding interviews Feb. 9, 10, and 11. She didn't say anything beyond that. I'm assuming it's over, but I guess they may have extended further. Because I'm still waiting for an interview, I highly doubt it.

Hey Khenon, maybe if you call the admissions office at KUMED they can tell you if they're done interviewing, I hope they're not so you can get your interview!
BTW, I had the interview yesterday and it was the biggest grilling session I've had 😡 I came out of there exhausted and with a headache, hehe. I suposse I was out of luck and got the stress interview...

Best of luck! :luck: :luck: :luck:

I suppose you could be right. I still haven't received a rejection from them yet, so there's still some hope.

I'm sorry your interview was so hard! It seemed others were saying it was more laid back. Maybe they're getting to their last few spots and want to make sure they eliminate all the weak ones! I'm sure you did fine. I hope you get in!

it all depends on who you get as an interviewer. one of our first year professors has talked about some of his "torture techniques" used during interviewing. did your interviewer by any chance look a bit like bozo the clown?

That sucks...what kind of things did he ask you??? If you don't mind telling...

I heard that some lucky people received acceptances from KUSOM the other day. Anyone here recently been accepted? Just checking to see who my future classmates will be! For those who still haven't heard - good luck! :luck:

uggghhh...I was already beginning to feel nervous but I think you just shot it into overdrive. I'm hoping that the people who just got accepted were folks who just interviewed and not from the final list....on a side note, I really can't believe we're almost done waiting. (Its been almost 3 months)

Hey medmonkey - I'm pretty sure that these were people who were just interviewed. You'll hear something in March! 👍 Let us know - really hope that it's good news. Didn't mean to make you more nervous - sorry.

It's kindof blurry, but basically it was a lot of ethical questions, really difficult "what would you do if....."; one of my interviewers (the first one) kept asking me if I came to the US because my parents made me to (by the third time he said that after I explained him the story I was about to loose it and yell "NO!", but I kept my composure 😉 ), let's see...oh, a lot about healthcare policy, HMO's, insurance, etc. We'll see what happens, results suppossedly are coming out on St. Patrick's Day :scared:

Hey not a prob evajaclynn. Better to be nervous and hopeful than to have no hope at all. Although I may avoid this forum until I get some news. I noticed I'm becoming much more obsessive lately...so a last good luck and Rock Chalk Jayhawk to anyone else who is waiting.

tristy-did you call them and they told you that it would be around St. Patrick's day? :luck:

Dulcinea,
Actually they told us this during the interview day, I wish they'd make their decision a little bit faster 'cause I'm running out of patience 😳

I still haven't received a rejection. Does that mean I'm rejected, but just in case the entire list of accepted applicants die, they might still interview me?

I will not be at my home address for several weeks when we are suppose to hear back from KU. I know they send letters, but does anyone know if we can call and find out??

St. Patty's Day! Exciting and rapidly approaching!

I don't think that they'll tell you over the phone, though they might respond to email (this is what I tried when I was away from home).

For all of you anxiously awaiting the information packets they promised us "sometime in February", I called the office today and now they will not be mailing them out until the middle of March. So I guess I will back off the mailbox for a while.

I got an acceptance letter by snail mail on Saturday. This was the first letter I have received since I interviewed in late January, so this probably doesn't mean anything new for people who have not heard. Good Luck.

Michael

Big Party on St. Paddy's Day? :luck:

I just heard from Kansas that they will not consider me to be a resident for tuition & fee purposes. I have been a resident of KS for the past 25 years - who are they kidding?! That's a huuuuge difference in tuition. I'm appealing today.

what was their reasoning? that's not cool.

Hey lilmo!! How's it going? Bet you're excited to be done with the last test block. Hope that it went alright!

I don't think that they even provided a reason. I'm sure it has something to do with my spending last year at an internship at the NIH in Maryland. I even went to KU for undergrad - I'm not suprised that they would try to do this, but I definitely think that I'll be able to prove my KS residency - I hope!!!

going great. definitely ready to take it easy for a few days until the hell week stress starts. good luck fighting your residency. be sure to let them know that you live in kansas🙂 and plan on living in kansas. and that you think kansas is fabulous. they're really strict on the residency thing and have been giving some of my classmates a lot of problems with it. :luck: :luck:

Howdy,
i'm finishing up my 3rd year at KUMC. anybody has any questions you can send me a private message and I'll try my best to answer any questions you have. particularly about clinical years.

congrats to you all.

I also heard from Kansas that they will not consider me to be a resident for tuition & fee purposes. I have been a Ks resident for 22 years. I sent in my resident clarification form late last week, so I am waiting to hear from them.

Looks like my appeal worked - they're going to charge my resident tuition now instead of non-resident. 🙂 Have you heard from them yet?

Last year they had more movement than usual, and I know at least 50 were pulled from the waitlist. Hope this info is good news!

Congrats - will you be coming to KU for sure?!

Thanks for the info...makes me feel a little better, I am way less then 50 on the list...just have to cross my fingers and hope a lot of people get into another school they would rather go to...lol

Actually, let me edit the original post entirely: I'm just curious. What do stats need to be for out-of-staters who want to apply to KU? (not officially of course, but perhaps what you have seen out-of-staters get in with)

Well it's mid-April now and still nobody has received their packet yet. I know a guy who got accepted ED in September, and has been waiting, what, 7 months? 😕

Will you and this guy run into each other on Tuesday night in O-Chem?

Cool.
I'm still waiting for KU (trying not to get too impatient, but entirely ready to get on with it already)

Same. I was kinda hoping that the packets would arrive today, but still nothing. I got a big packet in the mail today, thought that It Was It, but no, just Drexel shilling their MPH program. Hope the packets arrive soon. I really need to get my financial aid stuff going asap.

More stress? sure, I don't have much right now. Give me more please 🙄

What kind of info is supposed to come in this little packet anyways? 😕

Among other things, the school code that you need for FAFSA. Fortunately I have it... PM me if anyone wants.

It's never too early to begin amassing our mountain of debt!

I thought the school code was available on the FASFA website when you fill out the forms. At least, that's what I thought I did when I turned in the FASFA forms in January! 😕

You're right... it is on the site. And all this time I thought I needed a "secret" code that would be in the packet. +pissed+ Oh well, at least it's done, better late than never.

You also need to fill out forms that are presumably in the elusive packet but... well... not saying that the packet won't ever arrive or anything 🙄 but the forms are available here . (Must be printed and then snail mailed I think). The guy in financial aid said that the Student Data form should be sent in ASAP. Note the line on the top that says Priority Deadline: February 14, 2005 😱 😕

Then again, since you're on the ball, eva, I bet you beat me to those as well 🙂
