Anyone heard of interview slots completely filling up for MSTP

I'm mainly applying MD but I also decided that with my research background I would apply to several MSTP programs. I got some inside word from Iowa that it may be too late this application cycle for anyone applying MSTP who hasn't had their application reviewed already. The only thing I can reason is that they filled up their 3 interview dates, which is strange because Iowa seems to recruit pretty heavily to get a quality MSTP class. Has anyone ever heard of interview slots be filled before october??? If this is the case I don't feel like wasting money on programs that no one (no matter their numbers, ecs etc.) has a shot at. If this truly is the case doesn't it strike you that this is a bit unethical from programs that expect such high virtues in their applicants?

Last year, I turned in everything to U Iowa by early September, then got an interview invite on like October 15th (the interview was early December, and quite fun). So..it would seem odd to me if they already ran out of spots by now. I've only really heard of that happening for UTMB MD-only (I think it says on their website somewhere that interview spots are gone by mid-October).

You could call the MSTP office just to check in with the status of your application (is your file complete, etc), and get the word from the source about their interview season. They're pretty nice, and confirming/dispelling the rumor would make this one less thing to have on your mind (I remember the stress of the waiting game). Good luck!

Oh..you haven't submitted yet. Even if you got everything in to the MSTP office like really soon, I'm guessing you'd still be cutting it pretty close to the deadline. Which in itself makes it harder to get that interview, even if there are still a few slots left.

Just call to get the correct info and clear it up.

I'm on Pitt's MSTP Admissions committee, and I was just informed today that I'm done reviewing applications this season because all our slots are full.
