Just wondering because my ISIS still says "in progress." I saw on predents that some out of state students heard back but havent seen any in state students get accepted yet. Not sure when the next round of acceptances is either.

They usually fill about 2/3 of the out-of-state and 1/3 in state on Dec 1 (as the still are interviewing till mid Dec), but around beginning of Jan the start to send out more offers, by beginning of Feb a wait list will be compiled and ranked. The wait list moves quite a bit so don't get discouraged! At this point your isis will probably not change until you are contacted by the school via phone call or email if you are accepted.
 
Anyone know how many people were already accepted (instate)? I'm assuming my chances are pretty slim now since I had an early interview.
 
i'm anxiously waiting too. there's a few meetings before winter break, so hopefully there's some good news for all of us soon.
 
Still waiting here too but didn't interview until the week before Dec 1. Haven't heard from many people on here about getting into Iowa though. Surprised since they told us we would be included in the Dec 1 decisions, but hoping this doesn't mean I have a rejection letter coming snail mail.

Where is this info coming from and where are the 1/3?
 
I am from Iowa and interviewed on 11/18. I heard back from them on Dec 1st. I was part of the Deferred Admit Program though, which is why I found out right away. Good luck to everyone!
 
Yea I heard that this year they accepted less than the normal amount of people they accept most years on dec. 1st. Does anyone know when the next round of acceptances is? I'm hoping we dont have to wait till January to find out.

I heard that the committee will again be meeting the middle of december, so hopefully there will be at least one more round of acceptances before we all own some other school money in January.
 
Hey Iowa2011,

I am OOS (& International) and also got accepted on Dec 1st.
Do you know if UI uses the pass/fail grading system or is it letter grades. And do they rank students?

It's not pass/fail. I believe they rank students - but it's a somewhat arbitrary ranking process (from what I recall).

Let's go Hawkeyes!! I'm cheering for you! Need some OOS luck in here.

I'm getting anxious as well. Do they normally have a middle-of-the-month meeting?
 
Does U of Iowa have orientation prior to classes?
If so, when is it?

Also, when do classes start?

I tried calling Elaine to see if any acceptances have been given out since Dec 1, but got her recorded message instead. It said to hurry up and wait because she will be out of her office until next Tuesday the 28th.😱

Hey Moonie87, when is your interview by the way? Are you in-state or OOS?

My interview is on the 14th of Jan that is the last interview day they are having. I am in-state.

i just checked isis this morning and it says admitted! kinda caught me by surprise 👍👍 :boom: :boom: :boom: :boom: :boom: :boom: 👍👍

Don't know if this helps or not...I interviewed in september and I emailed Elaine earlier this month. She told me for iowa residents that they accepted approximately half of their in-state students with many still under review. She then said that the admissions committee would be reviewing applications and sending out more acceptances "later this month"...so maybe later is next week?

Do you know if Iowa has stopped interviewing?

I did talk with Elaine via email this week. I am in-state...she said there are still spots available...no plan to meet with the committee this week...more acceptances to be sent out in January....they are killing me!

There were some acceptances and rejections sent out on the 27th according predents. oledss, did you ask about OOS?

Her email was pretty vague. She told me in the beginning of December that they offered acceptances to approximately half the class....but did not say this time.

I asked her in general, but since she knows that I am IS her reply might just be for Iowa residents. So....not sure?

Well I guess it doesn't matter how many seats are available, each of us only needs one. The December 31st deadline for first round deposits has passed, so hopefully we will hear the good news soon!
 
Hey, just fyi guys there are only 12 instate spots left, 3 meetings this month, and 1 more interview round. I work for the University and thought I would let you know.
 
Do you have any knowledge of out-of-state spots? I assume if I haven't been rejected yet that should give me reason to hope but maybe not.

Sorry no I dont know about OOS, they roll over a lot faster than in state, so its hard to keep up, the meetings and interview still applies. Also wanted to say that those accepted late, ie 27th of Dec. they pay period for their spot has not expired yet either, so the 12 may go down even more before a meeting even happens.

Really? Less then 12 spots, more then likely, left? I'm still waiting to hear back but this is my third time applying to Iowa. Maybe it's time to take up residency in a new state.
 
There will likely be spots available in february at least for OOS. That's when I was admitted.

Sorry they are very secretive about this, however they did have one today, I only know because I ran into a few people that aren't normally in the building.... there will be more acceptances coming out friday. The other two meetings I would guess would be after the interview happening on the 14th. But not for sure. Hope this helps, best of luck!!!

just a quick question. Does ISIS immediately update being denied acceptance, or do they send a letter saying this and eventually update ISIS? I check ISIS everyday and just don't want there to be a letter waiting in my mail box with the bad news. I guess what I really want to know is, if I was denied with the Dec. 27th batch, would my ISIS be telling me this?
