Hello-

I have my interview coming up in a few weeks and am having a hard time finding a flight that departs AFTER 6pm. They said the interview lasts from 12-5pm, plus about an hour commute to the airport. The latest flight I can find leaves at 6pm.
Will this work?

Oh, I thought about staying until Saturday at a hotel, but 1.) I'm broke as hell, and 2.) the ticket costs about $100 more to do so.

Any suggestions?

I interviewed at MCW in the beginning of February, and we were done for the day pretty much at 4:30-5pm. You may get out earlier, but it's likely that you won't because the admissions director makes all the interviewees wait until they've been "cleared" to leave (sometimes an applicant needs a third interview, and they only determine this after their first two interviews). One girl got called for a third interview at about 4:30, and the interviews last about 45 minutes...so you never know. You may end up there until after 5pm, so I wouldn't book the 6pm flight. If you're really interested in MCW, you'll probably just have to shell out the extra 100 bucks to stay the night.

Hey, I interviewed at MCW a few weeks ago (got in on Monday! yay! 🙂 ) and to echo amk934, I wouldn't suggest a 6 pm flight. I also got out around 4:30 and due to the possibility of heightened airport security, that's probably pushing it. One cost-friendly suggestion though: MCW has a pretty extensive student host program- they take the candidates out on Thursday night and then you stay overnight with a student. I didn't get to take advantage of this since it was already full for my interview day when I booked, but everyone I talked to said the students were really nice. So if there are any openings, I would try to contact the student host and see if potentially you could stay Friday night in Milwaukee as well. Just an idea 😀

I interviewed at MCW in january, (brrrrrr!) I booked my flight out for 4:50 pm. If you need to leave early, you can call the admissions office so that they can arrange your interview in the early group. The office staff is really nice & helpful, they even arranged a taxi.
