Hey everyone,

I was wondering if anyone knew of a good website to buy my med school books from. I feel like buying them online has to be cheaper than getting them at the school bookstore. Any suggestions? Thanks!

While I'm not sure that on-line stores will be cheaper than your books and mortar (given shipping costs), many of the "biggies" will have used books for sale. Check out half.com as well as amazon.com

You may also be able to pick up used books, even in good condition, from more senior students at your school.

shouldn't you be pointing out that if you use the SDN links to amazon SDN gets a kickback helping support this network.... 😉

http://www.addall.com/

this site offers a great search tool that allows you to see prices at a bunch of differnet online bookstores, including used books and bookstores in the UK. Sometimes you can find a pretty good deal from the UK, even after shipping is included.

www.bestbookbuys.com is a pretty good site. It searches a bunch of sites to find the lowest price. The best price is often at amazon.com or half.com , but you never know.

I would strongly discourage you from dealing with eCampus.com after having two bad experiences with them that were compounded be inept, disinterested customer service. I have had good experiences with amazon, barnes and noble, and others.

Duece 007......

i just had to let you know that a friend of mine, who is a physician here in SoCal, has a nickname for one of the attendings at his hospital; it's 007. They call him that because he is not a very good doctor, and they say he has a "license to kill".

Soooo.......be careful before you toss your nickname out to fellow med students and attendings!!! they might runaway with jokes!

If it really matter you can wait to sign up for AMSA and they offer an extra 5% off your books

Our university bookstore will meet any online price (if you print it out). Yours might too.

i got a special pricing through some hookup.. they matched the best online prices AND took 20% off of that. No shipping and no tax. I'm very happy..

but I still spent $500!! +pissed+

but we're talking 30+ books including texts, review books, atlases, dictionary, etc .. basically everything i'll need in med school

😱

Dude, buy them as you need them, not all at once!! You can sometimes get them off of other people or even check them out at the library! For physiology, I wanted to read part of a book but I didn't want to shell out the money for a brand new book. I found an older edition in the library and checked it out....turned out, it went right along with the notes. And of course, the library is FREE!

Another good website is www.getcheapbooks.com

On this site you can type in the name of the book and it will compare the prices for different online bookstores.

Good ol' half.com for me.

Most other time i try to get stuff cheap via Ebay.
