I applied in the summer and finished everything up a few months ago. My recruiter doesn't seem to be so sure on the date...they said october originally, now they said november and they still didn't seem so sure.

I think every other month. Next one is Dec.

I think the Army is doing stuff differently this year. I've heard that the committee no longer meets on a monthly basis. Rather, they are going to wait until they get enough applications and get together to give out HPSP scholarships. My guess is that the first Army board is going to be in late November or early December, as the first batch is filled with early acceptances from both MDs and DOs. We all know that stuff will definitely get done before Xmas.

I talked to my recruiter last Wednesday and he said that the board had met already so I'm assuming they met sometime in November. He said the results should be out before the end of the month.

my recruiter doesn't seem to know what they are doing then. He's been doing this job for 2-3 years now, you'd think he'd have some experience. First they said they'd meet in October, then said they "never did." Then it was november, "never did." Now they say they THINK they'll meet in dec or jan. I can't just switch recruiters now since ive had all of my stuff submitted since September...but then my recruiter tells me late october the army wants one more additional piece of paperwork from me.

Thats crazy. It's been my experience that even when you think you have filled out all the paperwork there's always one more thing to fill out. Hopefully, my recruiter was correct with his information. I'll keep you updated if I hear anything different. Also, did you have to give them a letter of acceptance when you filled out your paperwork?

I got my acceptance early-sh (mid to late september) so i sent just faxed it over to them and they told me that was sufficient.

Ok because I got an acceptance around the same time and I sent it to them but they also had me write a letter specifying what other schools I had applied to. I figured the acceptance alone would be acceptable. Also, did your recruiter mention about how many scholarships were available?

I did not have to write that separate letter.
No, my recruiter makes it sound competitive and says they dont know. My friend talked to two recruters and one said everyone who applies gets one assuming they are eligible and another told him over 90% get the scholarship. Im really not sure what to believe/why my recruiter makes it sound so difficult. My recruiter said they only have ~10 for my state..the others said otherwise.

I don't know man, maybe call some other recruiters and ask the same questions. We need to create a roster of good recruiters.
ill do just that. Out of curiosity, when you applied for army, about how many forms did you have to sign/fill out? I legitimately had to sign about 20 papers.

HPSP isn't a by state thing. That's more like a ROTC scholarship. Finally there were unfilled medical HPSP last year. If you meet all the prereqs and embrace the suck the Army will welcome you with open arms.

@68PGunner : i rememberthe paperwork saying HPSP all over it and my recruiters business card says that they are a health professions recruiter..

I'm applying next year. Which service recruiter are you using?
it says army verified on your profile. I figured you were already in. I applied army since they have the most residencies.

There is a QA phase before they send it to the boards. It can take some time for the boards to review your application.

I do know that the boards met early December and have notified recruiters of preliminary results.

The Army changed its policy for 2015 with requirements that throw off the timing a bit (i.e. if you don't meet GPA/MCAT requirements then you must have an acceptance from at least 1 med school - I believe it's 3.5 and 60th percentile, but they also now have an "automatic" acceptance standard for GPA and MCAT mentioned previously as >3.6, >507/29). I know that both Army and Navy boards meet monthly beginning in October, skip December for the holidays, then resume into the spring until "enough" scholarships have been given out. Speaking from personal experience, I have had a couple buddies receive HPSP as late as March/April. My recruiter told me that spots start filling quickly during the winter as volume in the fall is much smaller.

Also if you have a cgpa of >3.6 and a 507/29 or higher mcat you can qualify for an automatic acceptance for hpsp
I was told that automatic acceptance was >3.5 and 30 (old), though that was also for AF, so it might be different between branches.

Just to update: I ended up not being selected for the Army HPSP scholarship, however, I just found out Friday that I was selected for the Air Force HPSP scholarship!!
