Hi everyone, I was wondering if anyone has taken (or knows about)Physics I and II in the same summer, back to back, without a calc requirement? It would be preferable to stay in California but at this point, I just want to make sure I can get into a class. I have searched the threads and couldn't find anything besides Santa Clara in CA. I am trying to plan my postbac years and really want to take both I and II next summer. Thank you!!

My college here in Iowa offers both in 1 summer, unfortunately it fills up with students instantly and have never seen any nondegree seeking students get into the class.

i've never heard of there not being enough space at santa clara over the summer - just apply early. the guy that teaches physics there over the summer is supposed to be amazing.

Ohio State has the two classes in summer, and they're algebra-based, so there's no calc requirement. However, it's a 3-class series, Physics 111, 112, 113.

Ohio State is still on quarters.

If you're talking about this summer, then its way too late. If you're talking about next summer, then I would just start calling some community colleges and/or universities close to you and see what they offer. Calling is the quickest and simplest way to find information as opposed to hunting down their class information and schedules on the internet.

i'm taking physics 2 right now and just finished physics 1 2 weeks ago. most of the schools around me (on long island, new york... the opposite of where you are lol) have both physics classes over the summer. i'm surprised there aren't more schools that offer both by you.

If you have specific school in mind visit their summer session website if they have one or call and ask when does summer registration open every year, most usually open in mid spring. Next spring just register as soon as its open and you won't have to worry about searching everywhere.

thank for all your help everyone! The class is for next summer but I just wanted to make sure there were classes made available that allowed both Physics I and II in the same summer. I have looked at many many many schools in CA and they either offer only one semester during the summer, or have calc as a requirement.

Also, dilemma: my last math was stats...before that HS Algebra 2....soooo alot of these programs listed above needed trig as a prereq--> 🙁 annddd i am not about to take any more math 😛

So bottomline and quite possibly a longshot...does anyone have experience with Physics I and II classes during summer that don't have trig and/or calc as a prereq?

chochipcookie...what schools in NY? Although I'm in CA, I'm willing to go anywhere next summer to make this happen! 🙂

thank you!!
