Hi guys,
I'm getting a little antsy...I've gotten almost all secondaries back now except for Davis and UCLA. My AMCAS was done/submitted/certified/processed whatever the last stage is by mid-July. Anyone else in a similar boat? Are you people who are getting Davis and UCLA on an earlier time frame with AMCAS?
Thanks...!

same for me... i have no idea what's going on... i don't understand what should take this long if it's just screening by numbers... i just wanna hear a yay or nay!!! :/

i was verified sometime early july and i still haven't heard from Davis or UCSF (not that i'm expecting to hear from UCSF).....but i heard from UCLA earlier this week

I was verified 1st wk of august and still havent heard from any UC except irvine. At UCLA im still not even in their system so I think they are kinda slow. Does anyone know if they read pers statements before sending out?

I was verified June 9th and all I've recieved from the UC's is a secondary from UCSD. 😕

try http://medome.ucdavis.edu . Click on "Office of Admissions" and then
"Application Status", you will be asked to enter your name, AMCAS ID#
and birthdate (you must enter your birthdate with a 4 digit year of birth ie
mm/dd/yyyy).

Thanks Pinkertinkle!

I was verified 7/27 and UCD says they got my AMCAS 7/20 (submitted 7/15)....i guess they're taking their time? UCD and UCSF are the only UC's i have left to hear from...

I haven't heard from any of the UC's....except for Davis. I just recevied their secondary!

I haven't received anything from those two. I've gotten confirmation of receipt notices from UCSF, UCI, UCSD. I took the August MCAT though, so I'm not expecting any action from them until October. 🙁

I submitted late June, verified mid-July. UCI was really quick with their secondary, got it end of July and finished it up.. UCLA has confirmed receipt, but nothing else yet. And my big one, UCD, says they received my application mid-July (thanks for the link guys!), but haven't requested a secondary. 🙁

My hope is that UCD is just spreading out the process... maybe everyone that's been offered a secondary so far verified/submitted in June?

okay...so i called davis to see what the deal is after i went online and saw that they received my AMCAS on July 15 but nothing else was noted. From the horse's mouth: "we just started going through applications...give us some time." Phew.

I went to the website link and they have had my application since July 20th, but have not requested a secondary to be completed. I am under the assumption that they do not want you to fill a secondary out until asked to do so, or am I wrong in this assumption?.....

I was processed on 7/8/04.
Here is my info for Davis.
Application received from Amcas on 7/15/2004
Secondary material requested on 7/27/2004

you are right. davis does screen, so you have to wait until they invite you to fill out a secondary to submit it to them.

They haven't gotten back to me for secondary.

UCSF sent me an email telling me my file is under review for secondary. Dunno if I'll even get one from them. But at least they dont' have an essay. Makes life easier.

I haven't received a secondary from UC Davis or UCSF. CA resident, 3.64 cum/3.62 BCPM from UCLA, 34R MCAT, AMCAS received by both on 7/15/04. This is whack (especially Davis).

i hope everyone stops worrying. i got a secondary from both ucla and ucdavis. my stats are 28O and a 3.45. they are just slow!

you might be right uclabruin, but they send out secondaries to less than half the applicants so you probably have other things that impress them. i've basically heard of people with above-average stats not even getting a secondary from ucd, so it's all hard to figure out....

hey bruin,

can we get an idea of when you were processed through AMCAS, when UCDavis shows as having received your primary application, etc? Every data point helps. 🙂

So you guys know ... Davis sent my friend an interview invite. She was processed pretty early. 🙂

I also haven't received a secondary from UCD, or UCLA and UCSF for that matter (I got one from UCSD though!) even though my primary was submitted on 6/25 and processed soon after that. I wasn't really expecting one from UCSF, but UCD??? My stats are pretty avg., but as a Cali resident, I feel like I've been shut out. 🙁

I think UCD sends out secondaries once every two weeks and UCSF once every week. So don't be so worried if you haven't heard anything from them yet. My two cents: If you get a secondary from UCLA and UCSD there is no way that UCD doesn't send you one.
UCSF is much more selective. they only send secondaries out to a 1/3 of applicants. I think UCSF's evaluation of your app for secondary is a strong early indicator of how well your total application will be received by a majority of the schools.
If you get a UCSF secondary invite within a week after your initial email notification of receipt it suggests that your app and your numbers are pretty strong and the adcom didn't even have to take a thorough look through the rest of your application before deciding to give you a secondary.
If you received a seondary invite from them more than 3 weeks after initial email receipt then that suggests that while your app is strong, its not as strong as others and it required a thorough evaluation before secondary invite.
IF you dont receive a secondary invite and are rejected that is a bad sign and could portend more negative results from the other UC's later on in the admissions process.

I am not sure about this analysis.

yeah. long john, you've made that comment in several threads now... i think we get your point. it's stupid, so please don't mislead people by pretending you know something others don't and you're basing your comments on some inside information or study.

I third that... getting one secondary has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with other secondaries... especially the UC's; my bro goes to UCLA and didnt even get a 2ndary from davis... lets all keep our fingers crossed 🙂

B.S. UCI got my application the same time UCSD did. Around late June to Early July. I still haven't heard from any of the UC's...except UCSD. So in your logic...I should have gotten one from Davis and Irvine.

can't i propose a theory (with inside information) without getting bashed by fellow SDN'ers. As many people who have followed my posts know, I have access to people on the inside. Take from my theory what you will. I'm not saying it's a rule written in stone, but from information I've been gathering from previous year applicants and from people on the inside this seems to be a general trend.

mdsh00, have you heard anything from UCLA?

Ugh so out of all the UCs- Here is my list:

Finished:
UCI- Watch out for the one month deadline!!!

Received/Not completed:
UCDavis, UCLA, and UCSD.

Waiting on: UCSF (no love from them)

I received UCSD and UCDavis a couple weeks ago and for UCLA just today through the snail mail which told me to go to their website to fill it out.

Here's my data: 3.47 CUM, 25/30/29 MCAT, U of Chicago undergrad, Cal resident, and my amcas was processed sometime in late June like the 27th or something. Processed sometime in July 7th or something.

for the people who are worrying about receiving UCs, just try not to and go with the flow. I've already received my first rejection from Indiana university and while it bothered me, I tried to focus on what I could control and that was finishing the other ones as early as possible. best of luck!

did you receive the ucd secondary by e-mail and did you have to snail mail it or can you submit electronically?

No worries PMAA! You'll be fine...............UC Davis has started to give a teeennny weeenny bit more consideration to its undergraduates. UC Davis was my last interview...........and my last acceptance......and I had turned in my secondary by September. Don't worry....with your stats...you'll be fine. Good luck........you'll get the interview. Kick ass on that.... 👍

I still haven't received the UCSF secondary yet. It has already been three weeks since they received my AMCAS application. My stats are good. Extracurriculars are decent. I also read on here that UCSF accepts a lot of non-traditionals, which I'm not. Hopefully I'll get a secondary.

I received UCD and UCSD two weeks after they received my AMCAS application by e-mail. I got my UCLA secondary just this week.

You submit the UCD secondary online.

Working on my UCSD secondary right now!

I suggest you guys continue to check that UCLA application check-up website. I just found out today that they requested a secondary from me, 5 days ago. Heres a timeline.

Before: Nothing, no e-mails or snail-mails.
8/11: Recieved a snail mail letter that said they would be evaluating applications all the way through Feb. I guess this means: have patience.
8/16: Secondary information requested. However they didn't send me an e-mail to alert me of this status

I didn't get an email from UCLA but a letter in the mail on 8/18/04.

Has anyone receive a UCD secondary in the past week or so? I'm really starting to get nervous. Almost 6 weeks since they got my AMCAS verified. No love from UCD here 👎

very weird. i got two different and separate ucla letters informing me to fill out my secondary. i wonder if they really really do love me? jk.

havent finished ucdavis's secondary....i thought i was finished because i finished the primary part...but i havent even done the personal part....that part is still pretty long too. damn the aggies.

I got 2 snail mails from UCLA yesterday (or over the weekend)....one was something to the effect that they received my AMCAS info and to wait if i would be accepted for a secondary. The second was that I'd been invited to do the secondary.

It's a little silly that both arrived at the same time.

It's also silly that these arrived 1 week after i'd checked my status online and found i'd already been invited to do their secondary. Slow slow snail mail! Maybe it was because I'm across the country and it usually takes 2-3 days for snail mail to arrive from the other coast?

Still no word from UC Davis for me........just receipt that they have my amcas from their website...

I haven't got one damn UC secondary! not even one! You would think someone would just try to humor me 👎

No love here either..nor from UCI. I've been verified since the beginning of June. Well, at least UCSD liked me 🙂

Hey guys,
Just chill out about the whole application process if you are a Cali resident. I interviewed at BOTH UCSF and UCSD before I interviewed for UCI (I finally decided to go to UCI). I even got my UCSF and UCLA secondary before I recieved my Davis one. Don't get too engrossed with the dates you recieve secondary requests or interview requests. I think the guy that proposed the theory about UCSF's interview request showing you how well you will do on the rest of your applications is completley bunk. The Cali schools get such a large number of applicants who are all very competitive so they may do some strange things to weed people out. (Example, UCI got about 7000-8000 applicants for 100 spots.) If I were you I'd take things in stride and enjoy the year before medical school. Good luck all!

Thanks for the words of encouragement. Tough to wait on them though. You must've been a superstar with stats to get interviews from UCSF and UCSD. Good luck at UCI 👍
