I did not rotate there, but I interviewed there earlier this year. I thought the program was good, and the faculty were suprisingly friendly without being pretentious.
IMO the things that really stood out were:
- the ED at BW which was spacious and very up to date (with MRI)
- the extensive use of simulated learning with SPECTRUM (2 x per month)
- the friendliness and approachability of the faculty, and extensive teaching
- the future opportunities with research and academics
On the other hand, here are the things that concerned me:
- the residents all appeared very tired and worn out
- the surgery "trolls" at the Mass Gen ED who pick off all the surgical cases
- the "orbits" program at Mass Gen ED which pre-treats patients in the waiting room and begins work-ups
- the amount of traveling between the 5 ED's they rotate at, and even the Mass Gen & BW EDs have diff. attendings, charting systems, admissions policies
Overall a great program, very focused on creating leaders in EM, and very friendly....
