Hi everyone!

I'm just wondering if there is anyone who posts here who is still in college (any year.)

It seems most of everyone is graduated and applying.

There's gotta be some people out there who are like me (sophmore in college--almost junior) and still have a long way to go.

So if you are let me know. We can share experiences.

Me me! But I'm a senior, graduating in MAY!! Yipee!!

I am junior🙁 I sill have a long hard road, sometimes it seems overwhelming😱

is that the first ever mug posted on SDN? 😀

Woo-hoo I'm a senior too graduating in May! I'm trying to enjoy my last year in college, but I keep wanting this whole application process to be done with! All juniors, sophmores, and freshman, don't worry it goes by so fast and just enjoy each year.

I'm still in college, too. I am a sophomore. 🙂

i posted the entire fam on the previous page including my wife for all you haters 😉 😀

edit>> im really happy to see all of you respond.

i wish we could form some sort ofm UNDERGRAD GROUP in which we could discuss out experiences?

I still have most of the pre-reqs to take.. yuck!

Still in college here w/at least 2 years to go.

"Officially" a senior but just starting my new major and pre-reqs.

Good call, Agent. Glad to know that there is some of us around...

I'm a sophomore. Three years till med school, but I'm gonna enjoy every moment while I can.😎

Junior here and quite nervous about senior year. If the mcats go well, a year abroad with no science should cure the anxiety! I hope . . .

when is everyone taking their mcat?

junior year or senior year?

I'm taking it in the spring of my junior year.

From someone who had the pleasure of taking the MCAT twice, I would recommend the summer, much MUCH more laid back. Without school, or rather (physics 2, genetics, biochem and some research), things are much better. But then again that is just my oppinion. 😉

so most ppl are taking their junior year?

im not sure ill be done with my pre-reqs by then.

agreed...my original plan was to take it in april of my junior year. soon i realized that there is no way that i'll be able to juggle school, ECs, drinking, and MCAT all at the same time. so i ended up taking it in summer. my summer was wasted, yes, but i only had to concentrate on that one thing, which was less stressful IMO

so the mcat is offered 3 times a year?

excuse my ignorance.

nope, twice, April and August

so august is the recommended time?

does that then set you back a bit?

BTW has everyone taken all their pre-reqs already? I feel so behind.

I took it in April of my Jr. year. - my premed advisor strongly recommended that you take it in April, that way you can get your scores back before you submit your AMCAS and have a better idea where you should apply. I wasn't done w/ all my prereqs either (half way through Physics 2) but you're really not missing a whole lot by end of april - a few weeks of class maybe. And if you take a prep class, they will cover what you need to know. yeah, it can be stressful, but it's definitely doable too. 😉

when i decided to take the test in august rather than april, i decided to apply for the next cycle during my senior year (ie take one year off after school). taking the mcat in august does set you back if you're applying within that cycle, and i didn't think that was too advantageous for me considering my grades weren't that hot. but there are plently people who take the mcat in august and apply and get in within that year, so it all depends on what you think is the best for you.

good to know. i just have so many classes left too take ..

and combine that with mentally preparing for the mcat.. yikes!

i feel like i should start studying for the mcat soon!

oh its okay then... 🙄

well i plan to get crackin on all my classes and no matter how long it takes.. i'll get there eventually.

for april MCAT, you shoult start now

well i actually probably wont take it till april 2004.

im shooting for entrance in med school in 2005

Hey agent, I heard it's really a good idea to take an MCAT prep test alongside your final pre-req's if you have the time/money and it fits your schedule. That way you won't forget bio/orgo when you're finishing physics and physics will be ultra strong from the prep and class. Something to consider...

yup...im a sophomore.

oh hey guys,
i want to be a student advisor. do u think it is a good idea. i gave this girl advice about pre-med and she said that i inspired her of becoming a doctor.

I dunno, I started in Jan. w/ a review course, and it came out fine. Now i'm a teacher for kaplan, and from what they tell me most people start 2nd semester for the april test. Don't be too stressed yet! 🙂

too bad your wife snatched you up! Damn! 😍

Your wife is purty too! She is so skinny to have a baby. . .

I enjoy your posts Agent. You will be ripe and ready for med school. Since I am going MD/PhD, we will probably graduate the same year. How whack is that?

thanks isidella..

its been a hard road to get this far with the family and schooling.

I work full-time during the day and attend a local satellite school of a Univ at night.

I come from a family where none of my parents graduated college.

In fact I originally out of HS wasnt preapred for college at all. No one prepped me for what my future could be so I just experienced it all.

I feel like Med school was a calling to me. One day I woke up at I just knew. I swear it was god sent. Now its just up to me to "do the work.."

My dad is a construction worker and my mom a hairdresser. Believe me.. this for me will change everything, including the futures of my children. I call it changing the sociological patterns of my family's design..

bump.

anyone else?

Yeah, I'm still in college. Sorry about not replying any sooner, but I figured that people already knew that seeing as how I've posted several times explaining that.

I'm just a lowly first-year freshman 😕

It's quite intimidating to be surrounded by people that have been through several years of college already! See, in my Biology class (the first one that's required of ALL Biology majors), there's sophomores, juniors, seniors, post-baccs and only a handful of freshmen.

By the way, I feel like 2badr right now even though I'm just a freshman. The SHPA (student health professions association) at my school is packed with sophomores, juniors and seniors. I often feel like the only freshman there...most of our meetings seem to be just "this is how you prepare for the MCAT" or "This is how to write a good personal statement". Maybe it wasn't such a good idea to join. Ah well!

hey it is always a good time to join whether in kindergaten or junior high or whatever schools you guys go to, don't be intimidated by the sophomores, juniors and seniors, just to your best and be glad you started early🙂

twice, april and august

i'm still in college, but i graduate in May, too! WOOHOO!!!

I'm a sophomore; this year is probably my worst based solely on the number of classes I have to take. I currently have 5 classes, 2 labs, 2 jobs, and I just started doing research. I forgot to schedule in time to sleep. But, I think it's worth it b/c despite the stress and the hard work, I love everything I'm learning.
