I realize this site is full of Type-A's and overachievers; however, I have left the majority of my studying for Part I this last month. My exam date is Aug 20th and I have only gone through the dental anatomy decks and a portion of biochem. Obviously my pace needs to be picked up, and I'll have more time to commit to boards after our finals week (Aug 8th) until the test; I just wanted to know if it might be worth considering to push back my test date. Thoughts?

I suppose it depends on the student, but IMO a month is more than enough time to prepare for part 1. I'm taking my exam in next week and I've been studying for 2.5 weeks.

The key is to be efficient. Don't debate over what material to study- just pick up a book and hit the ground running. When you finish a section take an old exam. Determine your weaknesses and go from there. Your goal should be to get through a review book and do as many practice exams as possible.

If you need help with a subject, here are some particular books I found helpful...

Biochem: lippinchots
Histo/Cell bio: BRS review series
Physio: BRS review series
Anatomy: Netters for Dentistry
Micro: Ridiculously simple series

Best of luck to you. I'll let you know how my method works out after I take my exam next week.

-Hup!
