Has anyone here taken Physics 1 with lab (Algebra-based) along with Chem 2 with lab? Is it not advisable to take 2 lab courses during the same semester?

I am really looking for suggestions and feedback, as I started my pre-med journey late and really do not want to take summer courses.

I also tentatively had microbiology, but I can always switch that out.

That is definitely doable. You should be fine. I didn't do it, but when I took General Chemistry II, I took it with some math courses and a full course load. Algebra based Physics I isn't that bad. IDK about microbio though...

I took Physics 2 and Chem 2 together same semester as well as both their labs, 100% doable. I've also taken two labs every semester including this one and I'm now a junior, never had a problem.

You got this!

You hear that sound? It’s the sound of science majors laughing.
It’s doable, it might be rough if you aren’t good at science and math but a lot of things will be tough on the road to medicine

It's definitely doable. I did this for Phys1/O-Chem2/Physiology/Microbio. It was definitely a busy semester, but I came out just fine. If you normally struggle with science courses, then you will have to be even more effective with your time. This is a good skill to master anyway. Good luck!

I started premed in my junior year and had two labs at once for the whole rest of my time in college. It's really not a big deal. I even still finished in 4 years. Good luck OP 👍

I had 2 semesters with gen chem and physics lab, then semester with two upper division labs and o-chem, and another with one upper division and o-chem. just do it as the Nike folks say, it will help you grow as a student

I had cell bio and lab, physics and lab, and gen chem with lab one semester, then genetics and lab, physics and lab, gen chem with lab, and calculus the next semester (plus an MCAT course and a seminar). It’s definitely doable. You just need to study efficiently.

At the risk like a crankly old guy about how easy you kids have it, as UG, every semester I had at least 1 Bio and 1 chem or physics lab. Additionally every term, I had a bio course, a chem course, and either math or physics course.

Same. Right Now I have Gen Bio Organic Chem 1 and Physics 1 and another nonscience class. Next semester I will be taking Physics 2 with Lab, Organic Chem 2 with Lab, Biochemistry and some other course I was interested in that satisfies my gen eds (Physiology and Pharmacology of Aging) which is taught by a pharmacologist.

I'll be taking organic chemistry 2, genetics, biochemistry, and stats while simultaneously studying for the MCAT and volunteering around 5-10 hrs a week. And this is NOTHING compared to how hard its gonna get.

You're gonna be taking a much more difficult load later on in your undergrad career and in medical school. If you can't learn how to manage your time and handle physics 1 and gen chem 1 at the same time, you're gonna have some problems.

PS summer classes are awesome!

I took 4 lab classes 1 semester and got all A's. you'll be fine if you can manage your time. you'll have to learn how to adapt even further in med school!

I took algebra based physics II (electricity and lenses) with chem II during a summer session. I spent ALL of my time studying but I got good grades in both. Very doable.
