Hi,
i dont think this is allowed but I thought about taking the DAT just for fun and see what it's like now that I dont have the pressure.
Would u know if this a problem? if not, anyone thinking of doing it?

It will be a problem if you do bad on it...you can't "hide" a DAT score from a school once you take it...when you report future scores your old scores will show too...

At stupid is this may (likely) sound, I've been contemplating retaking the DAT because I was pissed about my QR and PAT score (still). After receiving an acceptance, the pressure is off and all I'm feeling is that competitive juice flowing. I left that exam after retaking it thinking I could have done better, and I want to see if I can get a high 20. I understand and remember the format and material well enough, so I'm thinking of throwing it in before the early summer. So to answer your question, yep, dorks unite.

bad idea taking the DAT for fun. admissions people have told me that they don't consider ppl who have taken it more than twice. wingin it, will leave you with only one chance at the exam once you're ready. on top of that all ur DAT scores get sent out to schools. taking an LSAT does sound like the way to go, especially if you can cause a scene in the middle of it. lol.

I think most of the people saying this have already been accepted. Hence the doing it for fun now that is doesn’t matter at all.

I don't expect you or anyone else to understand. But then again, after I take the DAT (third time), and set out on a two-three month rock climbing trip to France, I'll still be having a better time than most. Mons Venus ? Not my style.

Well, what you decide to do is ultimately your own perogative and right, but I gotta say taking the DAT for "fun" is one of the most masochistic ideas I have heard in a while. I suppose I can understand if you think you can do better; after coming out of my test, in which I did alright, I also too did feel that I could have done better as well, particularly in math and reading. But there is no way I'd spend that money and time just to take it again, when the crux of the issue (acceptance) has already been decided. But then again, to each his own.

Reading is also probable as well. Since I got a 26.4, any point increase would give me one more AA point. But then again, there no guarantee that I can maintain the scores in the other sections.

I'm not the smartest guy out there, but my memory retention is fairly decent. Took a online Kaplan diagnostic exam, and it turned out pretty well. I don't feel more text preparation will help my score, but understanding the format better is what I think will put me over the top. Your average was higher than mine - I pulled a 25.8, but my OC and QR scores could have been much, much better, as I have improved on those old rusty math skills for the past few months. Depending on the type of exam offered, I may well do worse (assuming 27's as the penultimate high score for certain sections). However, it would be a mistake to call if fun - it's just something that I want to do, for myself.

Wow, I guess I hit a nerve there. I actually have just finished psychology research on competitiveness in relation to gender. I have the topic fresh in my mind, that's the only reason I brought it up.

Don't worry about it. I spent a good ten seconds reading your post - sadly, ten seconds I can never have back. Therefore, I decided to post something equally as foolish (if not more) to waste an equivalent amount of your time if you read it. Parity = good.

But about mediocrity ... you assume the exam exists exclusively as a means of gaining entrance to dental school. While this is in part true, I also see it as a way to bring out the best in what I can offer. See the difference ?
