Hello everyone

If you were a different major than sciences in your undergrad and had to take pre-req courses at community colleges, then I need your advise. 🙂
I have to take a long list of classes at community college. I don't have a pre-dental advisor, and don't really know how to find one. I'm an Alumni at my undergrad school, and emailed the pre-dental advisor there, and haven't heard from her. I'm not even sure if she will help me, or she will charge me for helping me. Any advise on this?

I need to make sure that the classes that I will take will meet the pre-reqs at dental schools, and don't want to hear no's later on. Some schools say as long as the classes are University level pre dental approved courses, then they are acceptable. But, some of these classes say UC or CSU transferable. I'm guessing the classes will count since they are transferable to 4 year universities. Any advise on this?

Thanks

You should check with the schools you want to apply to. Some schools do not accept courses taken at a community college.

Here's my situation, maybe this will help. I took nearly all of my prereqs (math, english, Gchem, and all lower division bio stuff) at a California CC. Mine were the same as you mentioned (transferable to a UC or CSU). Plenty of schools have given me an interview and the few that rejected me didn't say anything about the CC classes as a factor. I think if you already transfered to a 4 yr by the time you apply, and have good grades there as well, they won't really care where you took those classes at. In fact, one school I interviewed at requires micro (which I never took) and they told me to take it anywhere I could, including a CC or online. If your GPA and DAT are competitive, the CC factor shouldn't hurt you.
