I just got my rejection letter for my transfer application in the mail today. I was a bit surprised because I think my application definitely warranted an interview. I know that in recent years they haven't been taking Caribbean transfers...but I called and they told me to apply this year.

I'm curious if anyone else got an interview? (or if it was a weakness in my application.)

*still got my fingers crossed for NEOUCOM and others*

For any future caribbean transfer students that stumble upon this thread I recommend confirming with the head of admissions at Drexel before applying for a transfer seat.

I had read elsewhere that Drexel had stopped taking Caribbean transfers but called Drexel to confirm. I was excited when the woman at the admissions office told me that they would be accepting applications from Caribbean students. Looking back, I think she may have been misinformed. I'm not saying don't apply--but call first before you pay an application fee and spend your time writing personal statements tailored to the school. 😉

Good luck to you guys!

I applied this year but withdrew before getting a response... So you're saying they don't take Caribbean transfers anymore? Or are you just assuming that your application was denied because of your Caribbean origins?

I'm not assuming anything--I think there is a possibility that they aren't based on them not offering me an interview. My recommendation was for any future students to confirm with someone higher up at Drexel before applying.

My med school GPA was nearly 4.0, mid-30s mcat, >250step1, 8 months as a TA, two research experiences during med school, 2 manuscripts submitted for publication, 1 presentation, and strong LORs. I certainly wasn't expecting to get in on my application alone...but it should've been competitive enough with other Caribbean students to warrant an interview.

Did you apply to SUNY Upstate?

Nope. My gf would not be able to relocate to Syracuse. I have an interview at NEOUCOM next week though(!).

How about you?

Yea I was accepted to SUNY Upstate. Drexel was my 2nd choice though, good thing I didn't decline the acceptance!

Good luck with your interview!

I got an interview at NEOUCOM next week too. I was told there will be 8 of us interviewing. Do you know how many open positions there are?

It was nice meeting you 😉.

There's an MS2 transfer from SGU this year. I only noticed because she joined the Drexel class of 2015 facebook group to look for a roommate.
