I've seen some posts of military to civilian transitions. Are there any out there that made the transition from civilian to military? I was prior Navy and enjoyed it immensely. My wife does not like living in our current location. I have about 4 years left on my practice loan. I think my wife will "stick it out", but not sure if she will for much longer than that.

I don't have income concerns, you don't go into the service for the money. I more have promotion, residency (is it worth it being 10 years out of dental school), and tier questions as far an 1 yr-AEGD trained general dentist and MSRB are concerned. I'd like to hear from anyone who has done this switch.

I did. I was in private practice for 2 years before I came in. If you want to specialize it's a great way to do it. You will get some credit toward rank for your time in private practice, so your pay will be slightly higher.

I know some guys that did that to. They sold their practices and joined up to do a residency. Its a good way to do it if you want to specialize and have a family to care for.

I did just like AFDDS, worked for a couple of years and decided to give the AF a chance. Been in roughly 8 months and so far I like it. It has like any other job its pros and cons.

But I do eenjoy coming to work every day, the quality of the people you work with is excellent. Let me know if you have any specific questions.

Cheers
