I was talking to a girl yesterday who was trying to review o-chem for the MCAT and she asked me how I did it. I told her I took Advanced Organic using the text "Advanced Organic Chemistry part A" by Carey and Sundberg and it was all I needed to kick butt on the organic part of the MCAT.

The girl didnt believe the class covered the same material on the MCAT. I told her she was crazy and that it did almost exactly. So if you have taken advanced organic with the text "Advanced Organic Chemistry part A" by Carey and Sundberg please post your experiences on this thread to convince this girl that it really is a useful class.

I'm sure that it definitely was useful on the MCAT, but remember that the MCAT only tests "basic" concepts from all intro science courses. so while I think that advance organic would help in that it probably provides you with a more in depth understanding of those basic concepts, all you need are the orgo I and II, lab, and a review book.

I disagree entirely with your approach. I took as many advanced classes as possible before the MCAT and I believe it helped me considerably. Your opinion is just that it is not a fact.
