curious as to if anyone used professional editing to edit their essays? or just friends?

I just used friends, parents, mentor doctors, and other friends that had gotten into OD School already. Anyone that would read it, really. Surely you have to pay for this professional editing...? Does your school/alma mater have any learning resource centers that will help you edit your esay?
