I am signing up for it since I am transferring schools, and wanted a letter from a professor here.

Do I just sign up and give them a code and the website so that they can upload it? Or do I need to do something else?

Should I request it be signed and on official letterhead to be safe?
Should I give them anything else? I am not planning on giving them anything, or should I type up something to show my extracurriculars and transcripts?

OP, Interfolio has detailed instructions on how to get a letter uploaded from an employer/professor/whoever. Go to the Interfolio website to read up on this. It helps to give your resume to the professor when requesting a LOR so he/she has some extra info to go on. Use the search function to find more info about requesting LORs from professors (there are many threads on this).
