Was wondering if anyone has used both of these sources. I have gone through mksap 3 and have glanced at mksap 2, looks like most of the questions are different than the ones in mksap 3. For anyone who has done both, is it worth doing mksap 2 over another source like kaplan q book IM if I have already done mksap3. This is regarding the IM shelf. Thanks in advance

I just took the IM shelf friday. I went through most of mksap2 and found it very helpful. I think if you did a study book (like first aid, step up, etc) plus mksap, you should be fine for the test. I only went through a little bit of step up, but felt like the questions that I had trouble on were things that could have been learned from a study book. Most of the questions on the shelf were case based.

Two is much harder than three. Do both of them before you touch any other book.

I have noticed the same thing, 2 seems to be harder than 3. Not sure why that is, I have not taken the IM shelf yet so don't know if one is better than the other. Anyone else use both mksap 2,3. Any thoughts why 2 is more difficult than 3?

I used both, got through 100% of mksap 2 and probably 95% of mksap 3. I did worse on mksap 2. I did no other studying for the shelf, mostly read up on my patients - wasn't too focused. I ended up doing fine on the exam.

You really need a book to read (FA, Step up, Harrison's, Saint-frances, etc...)other than mksap alone to get top 5% in my opinion.
