Does anyone have experience using the pocket diagnostic scopes as opposed to the full sized ones?

Welch allyn says the optics in the big ones are better, but I'm not sure how much that would really translate into big differences in to seeing things.
I'd really like to get the pocket ones just because they'd be easier to cart around, but I don't want to get something that I won't be able to use at all.
Thanks!

In my experience, the optics on the pocket scopes leave a lot to be desired...especially if you compare it to the regular coaxial models. They look convenient, but you'll probably find yourself frustrated with them quite frequently.

What is the real deal with the Panoptic scopes? Are they really worth it? My parents offered to pay the difference between the old scope and the panoptic, but I'm not sure it's worth it, any input out there?

the other day i was in physical diagnosis, and our fourth year preceptor was drooling over the panoptic. basically you can pretty much see the entire "two optic disc spread" that you're supposed to examine without moving around and such. if you're folks are willing to pay for the difference i say go for it. (plus at least at our school, we could get the standard optho head for 25 bucks more) you're gonna be a doctor--you need a good opthalmoscope.
