I'm about to start 3rd year and starting to buy books. I noticed that pre-test and casefiles have kindle versions. Has anyone used these? Do you think it would be essential to have these in print?

It depends on how much you rely on highlighting and taking notes in the margins... Personally I don't do either of those. If you don't need to either then you could save some space in your backpack by using electronic versions. On the downside if you plan on carrying the kindle around with you just make sure no one steals it.
I have a Kindle, and I just checked out the sample version of Cases Files Family Medicine. If you don't mind staring at a screen, it's very readable and nothing about the formatting struck me as odd. I already have a family medicine review book on the way, but if I didn't, I'd definitely be buying the Kindle version.
Let me know if you want me to test drive anything else.
Thanks! I looked at the pre-test sample too. The only thing that MIGHT be a problem is that the pictures are black and white. But from what I can tell they look pretty clear.
I've been using pdfs of CaseFiles on my iPod touch and I love it. It's been the best thing ever. I just got a pdf reader for a few bucks from the App store.
I wouldn't go and get a kindle for this sole purpose when you could just get the e-book in pdf format or get another sort of reader program.

I already have a kindle, so that's not the issue. I did a very quick search (so I could be wrong) but I saw that the pdf/ebook was going for ~$30 whereas the kindle version is $18. Or I guess you could possibly pirate it and put it on the kindle for 15 cents. 🙄
