Several of my classmates do, but most of those that had started off with them have stopped - you just don't have time to sit in class for a couple of hours listening to lecture and then spend spend those hours again as you listen a second time.
The two biggest things I've found helpful - re-writting my notes every couple of days and using flash cards on the pure rote-memorization stuff. That and over the lunch hour quizing classmates.
at the U of MN, our lectures are video- and audio-recorded and then put on the Web to be viewed anywhere, anytime. I haven't used it a ton, but many of my classmates do, and the few times I have, it's been great. Sometimes you just can't remember if the prof said C1qr2s2 or just C1qrs.
