I have all of my applications complete with the schools I am applying to, except for one evaluator. I gave him all the necessary items to get the letter out in a timely manner and he is taking a loooooong time! I am getting frustrated and don't know how to get him to get on the ball? Is there anyone else that is still having this problem or might have some insight as to how to motivate him? 😕

Call Tony Soprano.

Seriously, you need to continually remind this person (at least once a week) in an EXTREMELY polite manner. It is not uncalled for that you would let him or her know the situation - time is "of the essence". Just, above all else, do not make the tone of the email/letter make it seem as though you're rushing the recommender...rather it should just inform them of your progress and that you greatly appreciate their time and effort and that you know they're extremely busy... stuff like that. I had to coerce several evaluator in the months of June and July for a while haha... Thankfully, I was done by the first week of August but by that time the committee reviews here at my university were scheduled through September 🙁

Are you having htis individual submit directly to the school, to a letter service (ie interfolio) or to your premed/preprofessional department?

He actually is a professor at one of the schools I am applying to. So, he is going to actually walk it over to the admissions office. Do you think it is appropriate to send him a thank you card, kind of as a reminder but also letting him know I really appreciate him doing this?
