Anyone Waiting on Tufts Secondary?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
It is out on their web. It is a PDF file so you can down load it. Only problem is that they ask for application authorization code which will be sent out to us although I don't know when. I think it says that invitation to complete the secondary will be mailed to us (I'm guessing snail mail). In a mean while you could still complete the application.

The Tufts secondary is out on their website, but you have to receive an authorization number to put on it before you can "officially" do it.

did you guys see the question on page 3 about your "personal reasons" for going to tufts. Their instructions page says that the majority of applicants say no and "move on."

However, I feel like the essay is more like why do you want to goto tufts and that we should all put something there.

What do you guys think??

Be truthful, you don't want it to come and bite you if you don't really want to go to Tufts, though. I think they are just gauging if peeps wanna go 2 harvard or boston U over them.

i wouldnt stress. there isnt enough room to go into an essay - its what, like 5 lines in large type? i feel like its better to not put anything than to put something that theyll be able to see right through

hypothetically speaking...is "my gf lives in boston" a legit reason?

This was discussed alittle while back, and it would be ok to mention if it was your spouse/finacee. But I think gf might be stretching it.

Can anyone think of a reason why a person would pick Tufts over Harvard, BU or UMass?

i personally am not a fan of bu... but that might be related more to their hockey team than anything else... hehe - but for real. regardless of stats, harvard wouldnt make my list b/c i dont want a school that is totally research concentrated, and just havent gotten the best impression from BU - dont like the $100 fee for a total of like 15 spots [half the class is reserved for their BA/MD kids, a quarter for URM, thus leaving a quarter of the spots for the average joe applicant]
tufts wins for me any day

You raise some interesting points.

Has anyone gotten their Tufts secondary number yet?

my thinking is...if i'm competitive enough to get into these schools, i should be competitive enough to get into some of my reach schools... and theres no way im gonna choose bu over cornell

so so true 🙂

Bump.

Anyone get a secondary number yet? Someone posted that they talked to Tufts admissions and we don't need it to apply. I find that questionable given that it's written in bold letters in the secondary instructions that "we need to include the secondary number or the application will be returned." I'm guessing this guy had bad info, but you never know.

Thoughts?

Still waiting. . .

Why can others see the light like Tufts has:

"please do not feel compelled to turn to research or creative writing. Most applicants apply to many schools to optimize the likelihood of admissions. We understand this. It's OK"

So does anyone know when they are going to send out the secondary emails? Do they screen?

Last I heard, Tufts doesn't screen, unless they've changed their policy.

I just received my number via snail mail.

Which side of the coast are you guys on? I haven gotten anything in Cali.

Haha, I think Tufts is going to save a ton of paper by having us print our own aps.

Got my secondary "number" via snail mail this past Thursday or Wednesday, 7/28 or so. I'm in Massachusetts, btw.
