Fans don't vote for MVP. I don't think "the decision" had too much weight on the MVP voting, but that's just my opinion.

Actually since 2010, fans do get to cast a ballot. However, I agree that fans do not get enough say to make a significant difference.

i hope the lakers lose horribly in the regular season and especially th eplayoffs.

lol.

Who do you guys think is going to win for the Weds OKC vs Clippers game?

OKC not as consistant without Harden. Worst off-season decision of the year.

Getting tired of the Knicks hoopla. They still look like a team that will not make it out of the second round.

Not exactly nba but did you guys hear about that division 3 college kid who scored 138 pts in one game!?

Getting excited to see Ohio State take down Meatchicken for the 8th time in the past 9 years this Saturday, culminating in our 6th undefeated season.

haha ok. have you watched their games? with their new bench they are legit contenders. they have a harassing defense and finally have a legitimate PG that finally allows them to move the ball and keep defenses honest. you keep telling yourself that.

Yea, from Grinnell College in Iowa. Pretty amazing, but not real baskteball to me.

Maybe, but Harden is clearly a starter and a damn good player. You're not going to keep a guy like that happy on the bench (even if he did play a lot).

Still, if you gave me 48 minutes with an empty court, I'm not sure I could score 138 points.

I will give you that.

Are you talking about Raymond Felton? The same Felton that the knicks (!@#!), nuggets, and trailblazers traded for spare parts. Is that the legitimate PG???

Yeah, that was terrible. The team won 179 to 104. There are a lot of college players that can put up numbers like this. It's just that most coachs have more class then to run up the score in garbage time. Dude took 104 shots and had 0 assists. Would you want him on your team?

When I watched the highlight on ESPN I figured he didn't have any assists. While I'm not entirely surprised he actually had ZERO, it's gotta be hard to go an entire game without a single assist.

Someone on ESPN was talking about it and said there were players that had easy putback, but passed it to him so he could take the shot. I would like to see him try this agains Duke and not Faith Baptist Bible. The name of the school makes it even worst.

If I were the coach I would've benched every single player that did that.

they always make the playoffs. you know what i mean. quit trying to be a smart aleck lol

But they always make the playoffs because they win in the regular season. I don't want the Lakers to win. I don't even want them to go to the playoffs.

Yeah... except that was part of the coach's game plan. He's done this before since arriving at Grinnell College. I read an article that around 1998 another player under him got the DIII scoring title at the time (77 points I believe). Not sure if the coach used the same tactics back then, but I wouldn't doubt it.

The guy still had to put the ball in the bucket, but the means that the team used to do so diminished the feat in my eyes. It was a little tasteless.

As a bulls fan, Lebron is better than D Rose. D Rose got the MVP because everyone was sick of voting for Lebron. D Rose and the bulls in the past couple years have been truly amazing. MJ and those Bulls were the best of all time.

But right now, Lebron is the king. And maybe, just maybe, Lebron will eventually be the best of all time.

It's only a matter of time before Lebron accepts that he is balding and goes completely shaved - just like MJ.

You're right. The Lakers will probably lose in the first round of the playoffs. The Heat will win another championship!

:xf:

I hope the heat win again, and lebron gets MVP during the regular season. The guy is a beast. I think he will be one of the greatest to play the game once he retires. A few more championships will prove that. But the heat defense needs to step it up. Once lebron leaves the court, they seem like an army without their general. I don't remember their D being this bad last year.

The Heat's defense is a problem. I'm hoping they're not trying and will turn it on later in the season.

Wow. I guess the athletic director hired that coach hoping for some publicity..

why would you watch the nba when it's still football season

Because we like basketball, and football is only on certain days. NBA fills the void.

tru. Altho they play football 3/7 days a week now 🙂. I guess I never got too much into basketball since I never grew up around an NBA franchise

Watching the Heat kind of makes me want to throw up. Like for real. It's disgusting.

that's still 4/7 days that need to be filled. Yea, I'm from LA so we have no NFL franchise but great NBA franchises at the moment. I love football too, but the NBA is so fast paced which makes it great entertainment. Sometimes the NFL loses my attention with all the stopping between plays.

To each his own. The Heat are saving their energy for the playoffs, and they will win again.

Wade hasn't really been playing like himself so far this season. He's been having some injury issues but once he finds his groove the Heat should win the East. I don't see too many teams out of the East that can challenge them, and I don't think the Knicks will be able to beat them 4 out of 7 games. The biggest challengers this year will probably come from the West.

Like OKC was a challenge last year?

Yep, me too. Not because they're bad, but because I just hate them and their godawful fans.

You try living in Miami.

What's wrong with heat fans???

The fact that they live in Miami.

Can you say BANDWAGON fans?

I remember watching games several years ago when my team (the Bulls) played in Miami in empty arenas, like almost nobody there. Now they get the "big 2.5" (it actually started with that championship a few years back but LeBrick made it worse) and suddenly they sell out every game and you see people walking around with Heat gear all the time. Miami didn't deserve this. They're bandwagon fans in ALL sports, baseball and football, too. Fans never show up to games in Miami unless their teams are really good.

Yeah, that's why I don't like Heat fans.

Rant over.

That is completely unfair. The difference between bulls fans and heat fans is climate. There are other things Miami fans can be doing in the winter. If you forced to stay in doors for half the year you better be rooting for someone. Being from Miami, when our teams suck you still support them. The difference is on a 70 degrees day in December we can support our teams from the beach.

I have to disagree. It is a known fact that people from different cities have varying levels of interest and support for their teams. Using weather as an excuse? C'mon man.

You're wrong about football in Miami. People love the dolphins in bad seasons or good seasons and they usually sell out. It's about the only sport where we've been good and where they kept good players.

If you know anything about the history of the Marlins (the new stadium, our roster clearouts every few years) and the Panthers, you can understand why we are such terrible fans of sports other than football.

We simply just started liking the Heat because we are finally good

That's all well and good, but Miami fans are dicks when it comes to games. They'll show up late and leave whenever they feel like it. The irish guy has some valid arguments about the attention span of Miami residents.

The Miami Heat are a fairly new franchise with not a lot of history of success until recently, so it makes sense that they would seem to have a smaller fanbase (until now). The bandwagon phenomenon is probably just a function of them getting better and getting more star players. To be fair to the Heat, they play some awesome basketball and if I lived nearby I would be more inclined to see them even if I wasn't previously a fan.

And regarding jay516's point about the weather, here in LA the weather is also consistently good and turnout to Laker games has always been high. This was even the case in the mid 2000's when the Lakers struggled and Kobe was thinking about leaving. Having a team with a long history of winning championships and producing star players means fans are likely to be more loyal to a team like the Lakers (or the Bulls) than a newer team like the Heat.

I actually can't decide whether I want the Spurs or Miami to win. I feel like Duncan and Pop & co have been slugging away at this forever and should have won another championship by now. But also would love to see Lebron get another ring, the dude is a beast and gets way too much crap from everyone despite the load he carries.

This is a good point. Miami only recently started being contenders on a regular basis. Being in contention will have an effect on a fan base. Look at the clippers. There use to be a lot of empty seats at those games.

LOL at the beating the bobcats took last night....brought back memories of last year. at least they're not the wizards though...
