Hello all,
Wondering if any one knows approx. how many spots would be unfilled to scramble post-match for an AOA rotating internship. The problem is I am needing to match one month post AOA match. Would there be any spots left for me??

I don't think anyone can know how many spots will be open except the omniscient folk who laugh at every small trial they can put us through. Have you looked for a history of open scramble spots? Or spots that are still open from last year's match? You could always go to the osteopathic match website and look at the TRI programs for how many spots are open.....

on another note, why do you "need" to match one month later?

Perhaps because he/she is hoping to match in the allopathic match and will scramble in a traditional internship if it doesn't work out. I was in the same boat last year, but luckily I matched (to my first choice!).

Ah. That was the first thing that popped into my head, but I think I got confused with the "need" to match. So not so much of a "need" but a "might need".

Another thought: Is it possible to match to a TRI in the DO and then also match to an allo residency as a PGY-2 this year? Or would you have to enter the allo match next year?

Possibly. If the TRI is dually accredited, then certainly.

There are always internships, DO and MD, that remain unfilled. They are called Transitional Years for our MD friends. The most coveted internships will be filled, but you can get in somewhere.
