AP/CP board results

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I am getting myself progressively more and more worried about whether I passed. Damn you all for reminding me that my timeline of when results would be received was wrong. If I turn out to be right and it was 8 weeks I am going to come back and ban you all. 😉

I am particularly getting worried about the cytopath part. People say you can't pass the boards unless you "pass all the parts." So therefore because I feel like I got about 50% of the cytology questions right I am screwed. But I looked at the ABPath website and it says you must pass "both the written and practical portion" and the practical includes the glass and virtual slides as well as the image based stuff. So that makes me less worried because I feel I did adequately on the slides.

I had cytology. I have half a mind to write into any future job contract I sign that I will not be required to look at any pap smears, bile duct brushings, CSF preps, or do any FNAs.

Yaah,
I hate to say this...remember I am a dermatopathologist.. for 15 years I managed to avoid doing cytology. But when interviewing to relocate back tot he pacific northwest...well everyone wanted cytopath done. I attempted to limit my cytopath, but was unsuccessful. I had to suck it up and despite hating cytopath with a passion......took a few review courses and in my new job in Seattle will do cytopath along with the main dermpath focus....
Gotta go with the job focus..

thanks for the CP tips...how 'bouts AP?

For AP...Perhaps some overkill here but it is what it is.

Pictures in Rosai
First few chapters in Robbins
Pearls of Wisdom Pathology Board Review
ASCP quizzes
Hopkins Surg Path online conference (weekly, sometimes overwhelming)
Pittsburgh online surg path conference (more sporadic but very good & incorporates cyto and some heme)
Baby DeMay
CAP Body fluids book
ASCP AP Compendium, reads like a parts catalog, contains the pertinent material

Lost my Lefkowitch, Sternberg Board Review, and Clinical Pearls books when I moved in July 07, turned out I didn't need them.

Seeing micrographs on a computer screen is different that the books, using online cases to prepare only helped.

Be prepared, the stinking computer seized on me every five minutes during the virtual slide portion of the test. A great way to bust up your concentration.... Hmm, let me zoom in on that thingy, oh wait, oh nooooo!!!! When I complained, the proctor said, "Yeah, we're not happy either, but we bought the system." They kept saying when you want to zoom in click once and be patient so the computer can catch up. Be patient, on a timed test they want you to be patient. Right. People will probably be stuck with seizing computers for some time to come. At least you clock doesn't run down while your computer reboots. Obviously, the ABP does not use Macintosh 🙄
