AP Tests

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Most med schools will accept AP credit for courses such as math, history, economics, psychology, etc... For courses like English, Gen Chem, Gen Bio, and Physics, many med schools will want you to take the 2 semester course sequences at your University. This is what happened to me, since I was pre-med I had to take 2 semesters of gen chem in college even though I scored a 4 on the AP chem exam. Usually you can find each school's guideline's for AP credit either in the MSAR or on their admissions website.

From my experiences last year, most schools don't mind AP credit for general requirements as long as it appears on your transcript.

Vanderbilt will not accept AP credit of any kind for it's gen ed requirements and U of Chicago requires you to apply for a waiver if you have AP credit. They won't tell you until after you send in the secondary fee. It sounded really sketchy, so I decided to withdraw from there.

All the other schools: Duke, UNC, UVA, Emory, Northwestern, Tulane, UT-Memphis, and Wash U didn't ever complain about my AP credit.

The schools websites usually have something. If you can't find it on there, just call and ask.

Good luck with everything.
