I would recommend living in Far West. It's inexpensive, spacious rooms, and it's a quiet neighborhood. Also, the bus stop is really close to the pharmacy building. Only problem is that it takes 15-30 minutes to ride the bus to campus because of traffic. I have only lived there for a yr but I liked it.

i live in west campus and i like it. i guess it's not too safe or quiet on the weekends but i like that it's walking distance.

if you want something more quiet, north campus/hyde park is good. it's not walking distance but definitely fine with a bike and there are plenty of bus routes.

Far West - very nice and quiet neighborhood for the older crowd (15-30 min shuttle)

West Campus - VERY close to campus in the vicinity of a lot of fraternity and sorority houses. can get very noisy on the weekends with parties. there are also shuttles. **very expensive

North Campus - also very close to campus - walking, biking, or shuttle **also expensive

Riverside Area - very very new and nice student apartment complex at with a very decent price! downside, the neighborhood around those apartments is in the ghetto. shuttles run frequently and is only 15 minutes south of IH 35

During my four years at UT i lived in West Campus two years, Riverside one year, and far west one year....my favorite was Riverside
