please advice me if i am posting this thread on wrong place.

I have taken AP physic B, and AP chemistry during high school, and received credits from my university.

I found out that some med schools do not accept AP credits.

I just finished taking Ochem, and am i was planning to take physical chemisty. Do you guys think that i have to go back and take general chemistry and physics class regardless of my credits that i earned from ap courses?

Most (but not all) schools will accept upper level courses in place of general chem. Two semesters of physical chemistry would certainly count for those schools. A few schools will demand that you have gen chem, specifically. It would be relatively easy to avoid applying to these schools, in most cases. For physics, if you're not going to take upper level physics, you might have to retake.

There are quite a few schools which will accept AP credits. You should look at the policies for your state schools and other schools you're thinking of applying to. The policies can probably be found on their website.

I'm not sure how much to trust that list. It has my school not accepting AP credit at all, and I know that's not right. I got in, after all! I had english, biology and chemistry all AP. I did have upper levels in everything except english, though.

From the MSU College of Human Medicine (CHM) website:

Premedical Course Requirements

Q: What are the CHM premedical course requirements?
A: Premedical requirements are minimums that must be fulfilled prior to matriculation at CHM. Premedical requirements include:

1. Completion of a baccalaureate degree at an accredited United States or Canadian undergraduate institution.
2. Completion of one year of course work (typically two semesters) in each of the following areas, with no final grade below a 2.0:
   
   • General/Inorganic Chemistry sequence, including at least one laboratory
   • General Biology sequence, including at least one laboratory
   • Organic Chemistry sequence, including at least one laboratory
   • English Writing or Composition, may include "Writing in the Major" or writing-intensive classes
   • Humanities/Social Science courses that focus on psychological and social theory, individual and/or group behaviors, or comparative cultures. Recommended courses include anthropology, cultural studies, economics, ethics, psychology, sociology, women's studies, and philosophy
3. Mathematics through college algebra or statistics and probability. The mathematics requirement may be waived with Advanced Placement [AP] credit for Statistics and Probability, Calculus 1, or freshman mathematics placement above college algebra.
4. Completion of two upper-level (junior- or senior-level) biological science courses. Such courses are typically within the following areas: biochemistry, cell biology, embryology, genetics, microbiology, molecular biology, neuroscience, or physiology.

We accept AP and CLEP credit to meet requirements if documented on an official transcript. Please note that lab credit will still be required. Applicants may meet lab credit with the lab sections of more advanced science courses or practical experience, such as documented relevant experience in a research lab.

PBHoney answered this pretty well, but I will say that MSU is my school, so they definetely do. Also, note the lack of a physics requirement. Wonder if other schools will do that too...

I checked the data source cited by the Dartmouth list, and it does not list MSU at http://www.colorado.edu/aac/noapib.htm

thank you guys for the reply.

i was thinking that i might want to take both physics and general chemistry again anyway because that would help me bringing my gpa up.
Also, it would help me out on MCAT because i didn't study much during high school, and i don't remember much from AP class even though i have credits.

so my next quarter schedule will be

2 upper level bio courses
1 general chem/lab
1 college physics.

my only concern is that, if med school will look at my class selection and think that im trying to boost my GPA up by taking meaningless class.
Like, taking general chemistry right after completion of organic chemistry.
any thoughts..??
