Okay, this is kind of a ridiculous question, and it's not really an anasthesia question, but this is the most popular board on SDN, and I've seen quite a few people mention bodybuilding here...

Do you guys think being too big/buff can hurt you at interviews? Anyone considered shedding a few pounds before interview season?

too buff is not necessarily a bad thing. although if you look like you've been on 'roids (or actually have) you may want to consider toning it down. remember you're dealing with smart people who can tell. big muscle does not equal stupid, though. there are a lot of buff docs around these days. it's a good thing.

Im about 6' 6" and 173 pounds dripping wet. NO ONE and I mean NO ONE has thought I was too big to be an anesthesiologist. A few have suggested it and man, have I thrown around that weight!

I think it's more how you act.

it can hurt you if you intimidate the program director and he feels you will kick his ass if he doesnt do things your way

Being too big for an interview? Dude, it's the applicant that's supposed to spend time on their knees, not the other way around. 😉

Yup, I went there.

Stop this bull**** banter about bull****... You are about to be Doctors and you're chatting about nonsense like you're in the sixth grade. Get it together. Don't act like a group of candy-ass-titty-babies or people will treat you like that.

As you were!

candy-ass-titty-baby.....I would refrain from using anything with the word titty in it when you are in YOUR 6th grade class.

Ron. Appearence at interview is important. Not wether you are buff or not but just the way you dress and carry yourself. You don't want to be a bull in a china shop. If you are buff -don't emphasize it, just dress professionally.

Just be sure to get custom tailored scrubs like Dr 90210.

If you think you are too buff, you probably are too buff. The problem is suits. What do you do if you buy a suit buff and then get skinny?

You are ridiculous. This thread is a total waste of time and your question is simply stupid. What did you want us to say... "yeah, maybe you should shed some of your muscle." Jack-ass.
