Has anyone heard from Ancora Psychiatric Hospital in New Jersey?

Or from UPenn Psychiatry Center for MH?

Deadline was today but haven’t heard either way.

So sorry for not posting this yesterday! I was pretending to be a well-adjusted, anxiety-free human being and socialized a bit

Rejection from Maryland VA tonight around 7pm. Email was really nice, which made me even more sad. (sigh) :bucktooth:

For those of you who got an invite (phone call) to: John L. Gildner Regional Institute for Children & Adolescents (Rockville, Maryland)... Have you gotten a confirmation email yet with details !? I cant seem to find it anywhere in my inbox and I want to email but dont want to look like an idiot!
Thanks!

Hi
I'm still waiting to hear back from a site that had a notification date listed as yesterday. What's standard? Email them or keep waiting?

If their notification date has passed, I think you can email to ask your status. You never know if there was an email problem or if you were somehow inadvertently left off a mass email. Best of luck.

Has anyone heard from UW counseling center yet?

Still waiting to hear from VA Washington DC and Northwell Health - Staten Island University Hospital. Not feeling great about either since folks have already heard way back in November? These program notification dates/actual notification dates are bonkers. 😱

Sorry to ask again. Anyone hear from Jefferson County Internship Consortium in Louisville, Kentucky? Their deadline was last week. Just wanted to see if anyone had heard back before reaching out to them.

Hi everyone! Does anyone have advice on how to properly cancel an interview? I have an interview offer on the other side of the country that I had previously accepted, but as I look at my end of year budget and the other interviews I have, I honestly don't think I'm going to be able to make it. I feel nervous about reducing my chances of matching just numerically, but does it count against you in the match process if you cancel? Is there a best practices way of going about it? Any advice is appreciated!

Hi! I couldn't afford to travel for one and asked if they would be willing to meet with me via skype and they agreed to it; it hadn't initially been an option until I asked. They seemed understanding though. :smug: I think they realize that we all just blew $1k on applications.

For all you neuropsychology folks, did any of you have to answer neuroanatomy questions or respond to a clinical sample/vignette in your interviews? I have been studying and reviewing like crazy just in case it comes up. A few of my friends took neuroanatomy in their first year, so they were really rusty during the first set of interviews since it had been so long. I have this re-occurring nightmare that I forget everything I know during my interviews and totally blank. :dead:

I am trying to switch my interview date at the Miami VA as the one I originally requested is the same day of one of my other interviews. The other site only has one interview date option while the VA had a few, so I figured I'd ask if I could switch to another date or opt for the phone interview instead which they do offer.

I have emailed twice about switching the date and they have not replied yet. Not sure what to do?

I dont want to keep emailing and bothering them but I need to know.

Hi - instead of emailing again, I would call the office/department directly as the internship coordinator can just manually switch your days in their master list without it being a big issue. I feel like they get really inundated with emails around this time, so your emails probably got lost in the sauce. Calling will also ease your anxiety rather than continue to make you wait and wait. Just my two cents since I was recently in this position and called the department directly to set up a phone interview. I'm sure it will be fine!

I had a few vignettes last year for neuropsych track interviews. If I remember correctly, I had a mix of interpreting scores from data sheets, talking about differential diagnoses between various syndromes, and writing/typing up summary and recommendations (after being given the history and results). I don’t remember any questions about functional localization though. As long as you can walk them through your process of thinking, I think you’ll be fine.

Also if I didn’t know something, I was honest and let them know, but reframed it to them that their site could give me experience with whatever it was 🙂

I have sat with deciding to respond to this for several days. I am a previous intern and I don’t believe it is ethical for me to stay silent. The environment at SCS was incredibly toxic and was rampant with sexual harassment. I would be happy to share more about what occurred during my year there in a private message. I’d encourage anyone who is interviewing with SCS to ask how they address trainee safety, and how previous trainee complaints have been addressed.

That is most helpful! Thank-you very much! 🙂 I especially like that last part, it shows that you're teachable! Aha!

Wow. It takes a lot of courage to speak out...thank-you for sharing and for letting the forum know that you are available if anyone has questions. Transparency is very important and students are often in a precarious position if they don't have experience or connection to a particular site. I was at a site a few years back that had a lot of issues and although I spoke up for those involved, I was completely ignored by the site and even by my program when I reported it. Too often we shy away from what is awkward or uncomfortable, but I couldn't stand it and it was impacting everyone's mental health. Cheers, friend.
