Ok...this has been bugging me. Is it possible, or even common for sites to send out one set of neuro track invitations at one point, then at a later point send out more neuro track invitations? Or, do all neuro track invitations typically go out the same day from a site?

I'd say anything is possible, as there is no standard procedure for 'all' sites - an official email is really the only definitive answer. You can take a look at sites' tendencies in the threads from previous years; last year's thread shows that some sites did multiple waves. Hope for the best!

I actually saw that last year Rush, for example, sent out mass emails on two different dates for interview invites. There’s definitely still hope!

Last year I had both first wave and second wave invites for neuro sites—it just depends on the site. I actually matched at a site where I got a second wave invite so anything is possible. Hopefully you hear soon—I know the waiting can be killer!

One of my sites said, "The APPIC Web Site (www.appic.org) includes links to potential travel discounts for internship applicants." Does anyone else know about this? I didn't see it when I searched the website. Any other tips people have for travel discounts? It will be here before you know it!

The last 2 links at the bottom of the page look like they would be helpful

I found lots of great deals on Priceline last year. I would recommend avoiding hotels that are rated less than 7 stars. Typically 7 or higher is good. The one nice thing is that interviews are held when there isn’t a ton of travel nationally, so prices tend to be lower.

Okay, here's the 11/20 DMs. Lots of great sites inviting this week, but lots of good ones still holding out on us. Personally, I've only heard back from 25% of my sites and not a peep from the others in my inbox or here. I expect it will pick up soon.

I've heard back from three out of 30...

I have been using Ratuken (rebranded e-bates)’s travel site. They have a partnership with booking.com which usually has some really good deals for hotel rooms and then give 6% cashback! They also have deals for Expedia, Hotels.com, and others. Additionally, a trick that I found is that you can group your hotel, car, and flights together on expedia and that seems to be cheaper than parsing out the costs!

I have a code that can get you $10 free to register at ratuken! DM me if you want it! Also good cashback anywhere you order stuff online and you can set it up for instore purchases (even restaurants for food on the road!)

If anyone hears about the deals through appic that would be great! I’m trying to coordinate travel with a cohortmate who has the same interview sites as much as possible and use airline/travel/hotel points as much as possible!

Every site is a bit different for when they send out rejections, but your thinking on the USAjobs app is likely accurate.
Thanks! Did you apply last year? Any idea of how long it takes to hear back about USAjobs eligibility/official notification for interviews?

Might be too early for this question, but do you all have a strategy for thinking about when/how to schedule the interview dates? I know some of it will just be where the cards fall, but curious whether there is a way to go about this other than trying to cluster in geographic regions as much as possible.

I have attempted to pre-map out when and where all the sites I have applied to may have interview dates. Obviously, I will (and have not) received interview invitations for all sites but it helps get a slightly better idea/handle on all the craziness.

Only heard back from 11% of my sites so far- eesh! And neither has been good (rejection + site closed down). I was looking at the notification dates for my sites and most seem to be by the 16th of December, and those are for interviews the first week of January! Making me a little nervous to think about having only 2-3 weeks to book flights + hotels, but honestly I'll just be grateful if I get any interviews at this point, so I am sure I'll be excited then, hahaha.

I made an excel file with all potential interview dates and color-coded all my sites by geographic regions. Then, I placed an "x" for the potential interview dates offered by different sites to ensure there are no significant conflicts. I was really trying to cluster my interviews by geographic region, but 3 interview invitations in and I'm not sure how seamlessly that'll go!

I made a mock calendar with all of my interviews. Then checked what could be a travel day, and if there were flights available to the other interviews. Then I highlighted my first and second choices for interview dates!

Definitely tried to group geographically—if I could drive from one to another I looked into that too!

I haven't heard a peep from any of the 14 sites I've applied to. I'm almost okay with getting a rejection, just to know someone is at least looking at my applications 😛 This process definitely teaches us patience!

I ran into my adviser yesterday and she asked me why I looked so worn out. I responded "internship applications." She laughed and said "you just turned those in a minute ago! A lot of sites haven't even finished looking through applications." Doesn't make it any easier, but it's nice to remember that there's an alternative to my nightmare of evil TD's throwing my application in a fire and dancing on the ashes.
