APPIC Interview Invitation Thread (2021)

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Has anyone run into issues with sites receiving their emails? I have now had two separate sites that had to follow up with me saying I did not respond to their original email, when I did respond right away. It's really frustrating as I have little control over their organization marking my email as spam, if that's what is occurring. Does anyone have insight into any ways to fix/address this?
This happened to me (with two separate VA sites). I think I may be blocked by a spam filter (I also tried via my personal gmail, school email, etc). My TD suggested that I call sites to let them know what is happening and so far they have all been very understanding and have followed up with me via phone.

Great - I will plan to continue calling. Thank you!

This happened to me with two separate sites as well. I apologized for the mishap and when I responded I asked them to confirm that they received my email given my previous email did not go through.

I also included in my email that if I did not hear back from them the same day that I would follow up via phone call.

I am not aware of a way for us to fix this on our end.
Thank you - that's basically what I've been doing as well. An unfortunate hurdle I wasn't expecting in this process!

I was thinking maybe wait for 3 business days after? I'm anxious too but there was a Saturday and Sunday in there and it's still early Mon morning on the West :]
True true. I was considering Match policies (listed below--italics from original email) in part because it will be helpful to hear back from them as I am scheduling other interviews/open houses!

"Applicants should contact a site to inquire about their interview status only if they haven't heard from that site by the morning of the day after its published interview notification date. Applicants should never make assumptions about their interview status with a site until they have received the notification from that site. In the event that you don't receive an interview notification in a timely manner, then (1) check your "junk mail" or "spam" folder to see if it ended up there, and (2) contact the site the day after that site's interview notification date to inquire about your status."

(In honor of years past) If & How you're staying sane: Definitely not sane but I've been distracting myself by playing Pandemic with my husband, watching Hamilton over and over with my toddler and preschooler, and my cohort-mates have been life savers.

I was sure this would be a rejection after my cohort-mate got the offer on Friday but I'm so thrilled! Hang in there even for the sites others have heard from. It's not over until you get that rejection!

2 Question:
1. Do we expect a rejection email from all the internship sites we have applied to?
2. If we don't hear back from the site when others have, is it safe to assume we have been rejected, or are there some programs with a rolling admissions style?

Depends. If the internship site sends out a mass email about interview dates, I think it is safe to assume that a rejection will be forthcoming. However, sites that send out personal emails or phone calls could still result in an interview invitation since it might take more time for them to contact everyone. I have seen some sites that operate with a "rolling admissions" approach. They may have candidates on a wait-list in case applicants decline their interview invitations.

It was addressed to me (i.e., had my name in it) but it was pretty generic and was the same wording as the email sent to my cohort-mate on Friday. Looks like they are scheduling in waves and it sounds like they may still have additional interview dates as they are only scheduling for one right now. I wouldn't count this one out quite yet! Fingers crossed for you 🤞

Anyone know if Children's Mercy might be doing invites on a rolling basis? Haven't seen a post since 11/6... the appic website said the notification date would be 12/4.
