APPIC Interview Invitation Thread (2021)

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Has anybody who is interviewing at the Philly VA received confirmation of their interview date? Filled out that doodle poll over a week ago now and received a kind personal message from the TD saying a program assistant would reach out to confirm scheduling but so far zip from her....
I received my confirmation today at 2:38PM CST along with the personalized schedule, so I imagine that they're just sending one by one!

Method of Invitation (Phone call, personal/mass email, Snapchat): email, appears to be mass since slots were filling as I reviewed dates.

Has anyone received a rejection yet from Charleston Consortium (or a very recent interview invite)? I know they do rolling interviews but given they have already started their interview dates I was thinking it was likely that they had sent out all their invites?

I haven't heard anything from them either! It could be a matter of the tracks we applied to? But also trying not to get my hopes up.

Someone on here said they received their offer nov 20th. I think it was for the adult track. Lots of other folks have received invites for ptsd, bmed, & peds. I am expecting a rejection, unfortunately

According to last year's thread, ppl reported invites starting 11/25 going until 12/3. Hence why I was holding out hope but now it has waned

Rejection from McLean Hospital/Harvard Medical School at 3:38 PM EST today. Rejection from the University of Illinois at Chicago at 3:07 PM EST today. I have 3 interviews so far and have gotten rejections from all of my other sites except for two, which haven't announced anything either way. If those are also rejections, are the odds of me matching in round 1 still okay? I'm stressed.
This has been spoken about before, but I know someone who matched in a Phase I and only had 3 interviews. Others have mentioned knowing those who have matched with only 1 interview.

For folks asking about likelihood of matching based on a given number of interviews, I have referred back to this article a few times and figured others might also find it helpful!

I have a question...! One of the site I got invited to told me that they have “written” interview component.....!!!! What should I expect?? It is a forensic site. I have to write it and send it back within like 6 hours I believe...

If you know anything about this and/or know someone who had to do similarly, please give me some input as to what to expect!!!

Thank you so much 🙂

I had to do this for a forensic site, it was a vignette and asked me diagnostic impressions, how I'd build rapport, and treatment recommendations. We only had 45 minutes though, not sure if a 6 hour timeframe would mean you have to provide more info. Hopefully that helps!

Thank you so much! Yes this is very helpful.
And wow! Only 45min?? That’s intense!
I’ll brainstorm possible situations that they might ask in the vignette....haha.. LOL so anxious

It was intense haha I was so anxious! I tried to tell myself that they are just trying to get a read on our clinical instincts and see if our approaches are a good fit for the site. I reviewed the handbook closely beforehand to try and keep in mind the types of approaches they emphasize. Good luck, I hope it goes well for you!!

Has anyone heard from Kennedy Krieger Institute/Johns Hopkins Center for Child and Family Traumatic Stress/Psychiatric Mental Health site? Specifically the child trauma track?

Awesome thank you! Did they mention a time frame by any chance? Sorry just don’t want to miss that email. 👀
So, my interview is at the end of this week and I have only received the times and names of people I am interviewing with. No other details, which makes me a bit nervous haha

BOP folx - anyone hear from Springfield with the OF-5 yet? I’ve heard from my other BOP sites but not Springfield.

Seconding this! I had a written component at a child-focused forensic site. Also just asked about presenting problem, potential dx/what info I'd need to make a dx, treatment planning, how I would handle a dilemma within the vignette, ethical considerations, and cultural considerations, I think. I think I was also given about 30 minutes.

Someone else replied to my question and said that they told her they would send supplementary info this week. Maybe email them since your interview is soon? Hopefully it goes well. Good luck to you!
