Application cycle?

So I will be graduating this may and I am looking at things to do for the summer and year during the 2010 application cycle. Does it matter much what activities I do while applying? I am currently looking at a job that pays a little more than any other job I am qualified for yet it is not even slightly related to medicine, carpentry. I feel that my EC’s are solid; I have about 600 hours of clinical experience along with 400 additional hours of volunteer work and 1.5 full years of research. Is this something that I should be concerned about?

Your ECs sound pretty solid. I would think a carpentry job would be something nice to set you apart or give you something interesting to talk about at interviews. Most schools will ask what you've been doing since graduating, just make sure you have an answer.

I was in the same position as you this cycle. I happened to take a biotech job and I just kept up with my hobbies and interests. Working and saving money are very legitimate endeavors. It don't think it would be looked down on at all.
