My parents are about to file their taxes, and were wondering if they can claim all the application expenses (they paid for most of my application cycle) as educational expenses (such as when people claim their tuition/books)?

Has anyone done this before or have any insight?

Although JOAT is right, I'll still be a little careful about requesting tax information on the web without consulting or confirming with a professional.
IRS just loves to audit internet forum tax advise takers.

It's not an educational expense, it's a career/professional expense. Same reason why med school budgets can't paid for residency interviews.
