Hey Everyone, I'm new here and this is my first post. Here is my question:
- I Just got my MCAT Scores back and I did not do nearly as well as I was hoping. 8/10/6 P. I don't know what happened on the Biological sciences, I was averaging 9's on my practice tests, I am thinking I might have skipped a passage altogether somehow. Needless to say I am going to retake. I have my AMCAS application all ready to be submitted, should I go ahead and submit it in the meantime with this super low BIO score, or should I wait until after I retake and have an acceptable BIO score?

I am not going to be applying to "marquee" schools and my strength is not going to so much be my MCAT score as my experience. Nonetheless, I know that a 6 in Biological sciences is completely unacceptable.

Please Help! Thanks

What you might consider doing is applying to only one less-selective school at this time, to get the verification process started, which could take three weeks if you've already sent your transcripts. Retake ASAP since you feel the score was a fluke. When the new score returns add more schools depending on how competitive you are. Newly added schools will get the entire application within a business day.

Thanks that's very helpful. Any other thoughts anyone?

This is definitely a tricky situation...I think you should take time off to study for your MCAT. You should try to get >10s on every section if you can. Then ace it and apply next year.

If you take it again there are several cons:

1. You will be applying rather late
2. A month is probably not enough for you to raise your MCAT score up.

I think the practice tests are significantly easier than the real thing so you should aim to get 10-12 to get a 9-10 score on the real thing.

Good luck!

You could also apply Do!
