I am applying next year and my plan goes like this:

spring semester

-- complete applications during spring to summer semester break --

summer semester (Organic Chem I)

--study for PCAT after/during summer semester and take in August--

fall semester...etc... (and probably take PCAT again in October)

But my question - I thought you all said you could turn in your applications in June the earliest. I want to get them done (if at all possible...or at least mostly done) before summer semester so that I can then focus on Org Chem and then the PCAT. I am guessing the applications change each cycle, right? Does anyone know how soon they are available to begin working on?

Thanks! I know I am being slightly anal. All I can do right now is do well in my classes and plan for next summer when the applications/PCAT whirlwind begins. 😳

PharmCAS opens up the next year's apps in June.

The application for 2009 should open June 1, 2008. I guess you can submit that early if you already have your personal statement written, your work experience, community service, courses, and LORs all compiled. If you want to see what the application looks like, you can take a look at this year's application. However, PharmCAS won't save anything written from this year for next year's cycle. You can save it yourself in a word document. You can go this route, but I believe PharmCAS did not start mailings until late June and you won't be able to request transcripts or add LORs until your application cycle opens on June 1. I understand the desire to finish early, I finished PharmCAS in late July before Fall classes and interviewed on the first interview date this month at one of my schools. It is a good feeling to just be done. 🙂

Thanks! I have started my personal statement and I can get the rest of that by then for sure. I just can't wait to hear someone say I'm in 🙂

Did you get any acceptances yet?

Nope, not yet. They told me I should hear back in 2-4 weeks (their adcom actually meets today for Oct interviews). I have high hopes and will definitely post when I get the news. I also realized I made an error in my previous post, I think PharmCAS started the mailings in late July, not June. Sorry 🙂
