my application feels like it is in limbo at a few schools, and it seems like other people with similar stats are hearing from these schools. my aadsas has been "updated" for a couple of weeks saying that my application is "complete/under review" at these schools, but it has said that for weeks!!! how long should one wait before contacting a school to find out what is going on? 😕

will anyone in the office even be able to tell you if your file has been looked at--- i am wondering if my file has been looked over and not been selected for an initial interview or if it has even actually been seen.

i know i am neurotic about this 😳 , but it is awful not knowing what is going on with your app. (ie. fell through the cracks, didn't get an initial thumbs-up, etc.)

any comments greatly appreciated 🙂

Give the admissions office a call. When I spoke to the receptionist I just said I couldn't find up to date information on the status of my application, and asked if she could tell me. They either said "we need (whatever) from you" or they said "your application is under review"

I don't think you need to be afraid of talking to the admissions department.

i have called to make sure my app. is complete, but now it has been weeks since i have heard anything from a couple of schools, and i am wondering what is an appropriate amount of time to wait before calling to inquire what is happening with your app.

i feel like they are going to say, "well, if it says 'under review' than it is under review." but how long can it take to review an app.? what i am wondering is if i didn't make an initial cut at these schools but they are just holding on to my app.

thanks

Two weeks is an appropriate amount of time, unless they've placed your application on hold with the intent to review it at a later date, in whch case they could review it anytime during the cycle.

But if you confirmed that they've received it and it's been under review and it's been two weeks, I'd call them.
