OK, I did a search but haven't been able to get quite the answer I'm looking for..

I applied to a categorical position in medicine. I've since decided that I really really want to do something else, ie apply next year for specialty 'Y', that is an advanced specialty (ie PGY2-4) It's too late for this year, and specialty Y is competitive so I'm not going to count on the scramble.

So now I'd like to convert my medicine categorical application to be considered for prelim spots. I've contacted a couple of programs. How do I do this on ERAS?Just click the prelim box also and save under 'Programs selected'? Does the program get my app again or do they know I'm interested in the prelim spot only because I've emailed and told them?

Sorry if that makes no sense...me confooosd

sounds about right to me the only thing is you might want to explain the the pds where you interviewd for im-c and will match why you want im-p now. im sure they will understand as long as you dont leave them in the lurch...
