So I applied to this school last year and I was waitlisted. Dean told me one of the reasons was my low pcat score. I tried over the year to bring my pcat up, i couldn't, i took the pcat again 2 days ago (01-24-09) BUT i just recieved an interview invite for that school again this year.

so here's the problem, my pcat didn't improve and i know it's going to come up during the interview. Also, I'm afraid that my interview will be in vain because i didn't bring my pcat up. This is the school i want to go to though...

so mainly, what would you guys say at the interview if the pcat score hadn't improved over the past year? Would you try to stress your strengths more and downplay the pcat? Or say you tried your best? I'm just sort of confused here. 😕

I went through the same thing at UGA. I would try to downplay the PCAT and focus on all of the other things I had improved on. For me, I talked about how I had gathered more experience in various pharmacy settings, had better LOR's, and had more pertinent classes that better prepared me for pharmacy school. It also shows determination that you were willing to take the PCAT again this past Saturday. And if you honestly tried your best, why not say that. After all, not everyone can get in the 90's on the PCAT, I happen to be one of those people as well. Good luck with everything, I hope it turns out well for you!

you read my mind haha

You are on the right track.

Go to this interview with the mindset that they like the way you look on paper, now they just want to make sure you (1) can speak English and (2) are not a horrendous communicator. They certainly saw that you didn't improve on your PCAT score and still gave you an interview despite that fact, so it's time for you to shine.

Only address your PCAT score if they bring it up, and if they do bring it up, have a damn good positive spin for it. You're one of the few coherent and rational posters on this forum, so I'm betting on an acceptance. Good luck.

The fact that you are persistent in your academic goals speaks highly of your character. Just make sure that if they ask you "What are your plans if you don't get accepted again this year?" You reply with "I will apply to this school again, and again, and again because this is the place I want to be."

I like that advice, a lot. Blunt, short, sweet, and in your face. It's the equivalent of saying, "you might as well accept me now bitch because if you don't, I'll be here next year breathing down your neck and slapping your grundle."
