I have applied to nine schools (well, so far I have sent in six secondaries). I am a biology major and have a minor in chemistry, and just recently claimed a minor in philosophy, so of course none of the schools I applied to know that, unless I can tell them that in an interview.

I have a 3.68 GPA and a 32Q MCAT (11 PS/11 BS/10 VR) and I am a PA resident.

The schools I have sent secondaries into are: Rochester, SUNY Upstate, SUNY Buffalo, Temple, Case Western Reserve, and Pitt. I still need to send in my Penn State, Ohio state, and Albany secondaries.

JW what you guys think my chances of acceptance are, my top two choices are Case and Temple.

I would consider you to be way too late to expect anything this cycle, especially at schools you aren't even complete at yet.

More info about your EC's is necessary to help you decide your chances for next cycle

I'm not arguing with you, but what's the point in having a deadline if applying within a month of it is "way too late"? If this is true, then the definition of deadline doesn't seem to apply. Is there some sort of unspoken rule I was left out of the loop on?

Obviously every school is going to have a deadline. They still have rolling admissions, which I believe all of the schools you applied to do have.

You applied with average stats to only 6 schools (14 is the average # of schools to apply to) in November.

The unspoken rule is "don't apply within weeks of a deadline if you are an average applicant"

I am interested to see if others agree with me

Acceptance with an application becoming Complete this late in the cycle isn't impossible (I've seen acceptances after submission on the last possible day), but it seems to happen with much less predictability than those submitted earlier. It's my observation that late applicants are more likely to get an acceptance at a school less-selective than their stats would suggest, unless they have amazing ECs. I can only paint a broad picture for you based on personal observation, as there are no published odds to rely on.

Adding a minor doesn't seem to impact Adcomm decision-making, so don't worry about them not knowing about it.

Read through last year's School-Specific Forums (see the top of PreMedAllo) for your two top choices and see if any late applicants with stats like yours ultimately got accepted, and when they got interview offers. Anecdotal evidence is probably all the additional reassurance you can get.

I believe you missed the most important part: rolling admission! It's not the deadline that you should be worried about, it's the rolling admission. Once the spots are filled, you're screwed, even if you applied before the deadline.

good luck though... I do think you may have to apply next cycle. But try this cycle anyway (if you don't care about reapplicant status). Who knows...
