I see people say "those are good stats, you'll be competitive anywhere you apply." We all know "good" stats see we them and we know what is not competitive for most schools. But, what are the minimum stats you consider to be at the apply anywhere threshold?

I'd say if you have decent ECs, a 3.8+ sGPA/oGPA, and a 23+ on the DAT, you have a great shot at getting an interview to just about any school (except Texas because they're just pipe dreams for anyone OOS).

However, even with AWESOME stats, nothing is guaranteed. Not by a long shot. Some schools just do mysterious things, and you can't tell how well a person will interview from their stats.

That being said, if a person posts with stats like those and decent ECs, I'm never going to discourage them from applying to a particular school.

I also don't think that a person should ever apply to any fewer than 4 schools. I don't care how good their stats are... things are just too random to do any less.

If money's not an issue and you're not afraid to do a little extra work, there should be no reason to apply to multiple schools.

the modified SA formula is a good start. If your SA score is above that school's SA, then you should have a chance at getting an interview for that school
