I'm in a unique situation. Using grade replacement my sciGPA is projected to be >3 after this semester. If I continue replacing grades I'll be between a 3.2-3.4 gpa. I also plan to take the MCAT next year. Should I go ahead and apply DO next year or should I continue to bolster my GPA and apply after I graduate?

Even if you get it up to a 3.4 that is still right around the matriculant average - so apply DO if you want to be a DO...

Even if you postpone a year, there are no guarantees of getting into an MD school and it is really hard to gauge anything without an MCAT score, or at least practice tests. Just my opinion.

Very true. I'll wait until I take the MCAT to decide.

It depends on what you have for a gpa in the MD app. If you have just a 3.2 with grade replacement I don't imagine you'll be very competitive for MD unless you do an SMP.

Well my sciGPA after I graduate should be around a 3.1. At this point I'm hoping for a 32+ MCAT.

At this point even with a 32 MCAT you may not be very competitive for MD, I would apply DO.

For MD with a 3.1 sGPA, even with a 32 MCAT you aren't going to be too awfully competitive unless the rest of your application is just amazing.

You'll need to have your MCAT score before you can realistically start making plans on where to apply.
